Gold 15 years ago was 600ish $ per ounce. A Company Gold Road found a huge amount which would cost a lot of money to start digging it out. Price changes and GOR was a wonderful investment for me. It is still operating - I do not own any now. I had cost me a few cents only to buy them and I sold for well over a 1 for each of them. A Golden Old investment I made years ago.

Price of gold made it viable or not to build the mine.

U308 has been under the price of extraction for about 20 years. That killed a lot of companies and hurt share prices of those who survived the carnage.

I was looking at a report this morning suggesting BHP hides its U308 sales by including them in its copper sales data. The report suggests 20-30% of South Australia's Olympic Dam profit is from u308. BHP is hiding that information well!


Gold is $1998ish USD$ today. It's my inexpert view that the prices I am interested in will be significantly higher for a long time.

The five-year build time on a FIRST of kind is ambitious.

The recent fail of Nuscale SMR planned first was due to including escalating costs and insufficient contracts for electricity sales- This company is a very good reason why never take investment advise from ME :) A small BURN in my pocket money.

I personally see the Nuscale missfire mostly due to changing the goal post! Its 2015 plan was changed multiple times in very costly ways!

Japan lifts operational ban on world's biggest nuclear plant

TOKYO, Dec 27 (Reuters) - Japan's nuclear power regulator on Wednesday lifted an operational ban imposed on Tokyo Electric Power's(9501.T)Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant two years ago, allowing it to work towards gaining local permission to restart.Tepco has been eager to bring the world's largest atomic power plant back online to slash operating costs, but a resumption still needs consent from the local governments of Niigata prefecture, Kashiwazaki city and Kariwa village, where it is located. How Big? Its A 8.2-gigawatt nuclear reactor!
Kashiwazaki-Kariwa has seven boiling water reactors (BWR) with a gross installed capacity of 8,212MW.


The first five units have a gross capacity of 1,100MW each whereas the sixth and seventh units each have a capacity of 1,356MW.
The first unit began commercial operation in September 1985 and the last unit became commercially operational in July 1997.

Had even a bigger chuckel when I was given this "Rio Tinto is an Anglo-Australian mining company with headquarters in London. As well as being one of the largest global producers of uranium, it is also one of the largest companies in the UK by market capitalisation and is considered to be of blue-chip status."

It's a "nice" mining company which several years ago had Ranger NT and 65% of Rossiling Nambia.
Forget about blowing up art works in WA of course. Fact is Rio is sort of out of NT. ERA now mops up. Rossling share was sold a while ago to China.

Fairly sure Rio is NOT a u308 stock of note. A dripple from ERA perhaps.

I did send a brief chat back to CMC markets. It was right several years ago. Missed some of the new crew. Odd ABC news mention some of the reasons I am very very happy.
CMC is my share thing. Playing with CFDs not at all sure my money will! Leverage is not needed for this black duck. Leverage is in my view gambling. I am NOT a gambling type. I would hate to give my only effort back to Hobart casino. 6K or more still in my pockets after being told I was shouting drinks for everyone makes me wonder how much I did win that day 37 years ago. I may need to add another LUCKY to my profile :)

Some dayz life gets easier. Less is more for some of us [biggrin]
