Croaking frog - not a L/R Isssue

Hi all,
I live in the suburbs of Brisbane and I have a water feature its about a 80l Terra-cotta pot and about a 100l submerged kids pool. That holds the water.

I think I have a green tree frog either trapped or just making ,mating calls.

I love the idea of green tree frogs in my yard compared to Toads.

But the problem i have is. I have one frog I think in the pond and it only gives off one croke at a time what does this mean?

My question is can the frog get out or is it stuck or is it a maiting call. The frog has been cailing now for weeks. will it not give up till it dies or a partner arrives

if the call is basically "waahhkk waaahhhkk waahhkk" its probably a Green tree frog (Litoria carulea) ,and yes they call to attract a mate, and also in reponse to other stimuli such as cloud shadows.I dont get what your set up is, but as long as there is a way out the frog will come and go as it pleases(they can climb glass).This species has a strong homing instinct and is known to travel several kms to return to its base camp when evicted, hence its pointless throwing them outside when you find them in your toilet.:DHe (as if it croaks its a boy) will hang around as long as its food supply is available and there is somewhere cosy to while away the days.Its hard to believe with the weather you have been having that he hasnt already attracted several females to your pond, I'd be on the lookout for tadpoles!;)

If it only gives one crock every now and then it's gotta be a Male frog.
We all know a male will speak 1000 words in an hour compared to 5000 words of a female,:wasntme: frogs can't be different;)

Just adore Green Tree Frogs:D

We had lots around here - maybe 25 or so years ago. Big, beautiful ones like the ones up North. My parents, who lived nextdoor, had an outside (flushing) toilet and the frogs loved hiding under the rim. We used to get a real laugh when unsuspecting (city type) visitors came across the frogs in the toilet bowl! We could hear them scream from the house:p

The frogs would love it around Christmas time when the "Christmas beetles" were abundant. They would sit under the grape vines and have a feast!

Sadly, the frogs slowly disappeared from around here and we haven't seen any big ones for a very long time, however, in the last 12 months we have had a few very small green frogs hanging out in our bromeliads.

Or the cat had him for dinner.
We have lots of Motorbike frogs in our garden.Cats are always after them.
