Hey guys
My problem is this.
Feb 93 Vogue SE. Had to weld up some holes in the diff pan due to small hemisphere problem. My mistake I disconnected the battery. Reconnected and the car would not start ie not engaging the starter and unable to lock doors with the remote. Swore and cursed and played with everything for 20 odd minutes then press the remote and it locked & unlocked and started. Drove it around for a test all ok and put it back in the shed. Now it has locked me out again. No locking or starting. have I stuffed it or is there a secret handshake to get it right. I have a feeling its the securtity system (standard LR) thats the culprit.

OUr disco has done that before, exactly what you've said. We had to set off the alarm to 'fix itself', (has aftermarket alarm piggy backed to factory central locking and immobiliser, with a panic alarm button on the key fob, just hit that and then turn it off again and all is good). This happens when the battery has gone flat or disconnected

I'm no Guru ... but what I have noticed is that the central locking remote works best ....
if you use the remote .... at the drivers side, front of windscreen, pointing at the dash gauge cowling / cover

Seems to get better reception .....

Thanks guys it all helps. I have just had a look through the RAVE CD and found the bit about the remote batteries being flat etc. So will replace them and then try all the tricks.

there is something on rave about reconnecting and pressing the button 5 times to reconnect when it is lost.. cant remember exactly but read all the stuff for the alarm

Press it 3 x to resync the logarithms in the rolling code.

The security ECU is situated under the panel under the steering column and to the upper right hand side. There is an antenna wire that hangs out of the box. Occasionally requires re positioning to take it as high as possible under the dash to get good reception.
