I was wondering why the hill decent light didn't illuminate when engaged but never followed it up as I've never needed to use it. I've just had a major overhaul ( cam, heads etc) and got the boys to sort the faulty temp gauge. When they dismantled the dash they found three pieces of aluminium foil jammed in the globe holes blocking the lights:o. I should have realised they weren't lighting up when the key was turned on but didn't. I'm going to follow this up with the car yard with the backing of the (good) mechanics, seems the temp gauge was stuffed with the yards tampering and rhf abs sensor needs replacing. Apparently it's illegal to sell cars with faulty abs. A little advise for car buyers...if the lights don't illuminate when the key turns on...run away.

Blardy hell thats dodgy. Lucky you gave it a good overhaul, now it should be better than ever.

More than happy to delve into the brain if you have been ripped off.
May turn out to be an easy sort.

cheers Andrew, rovertech did the job and diagnosed it as rhf sensor (will have to wait after paying for overhaul to fix).
Got hold of consumer affairs, and seeing as I've had it for over a year, probably not worth chasing. They recomended asking the yard first:confused:...like they'll fork out;).
But the overhaul and complete checkup has transformed the vehicle and my confidence in it. Would recomend rover-tech for all your ailments, they really do look after the customer.:D

Apparently it's illegal to sell cars with faulty abs.

I reckon a dealer would have had trouble clearing an ABS light from a Disco I knew of some years back. I bought the rear axle assembly as it had a MaxiDrive in it and put it in my RRC. I fitted the D1 with the standard rear axle from my RRC before the D1 was traded in.

The D1 had ABS hubs, the RRC didn't.
