A photo mistaken a few years ago (Jan 2006). I liked the 'Modern Art' look and kept the shot.

I am testing the T6 close-up filter on the Nikon 70-300VR
I try it hand held, bugger!! it is very hard to keep focus.
Nikon D300s, Nikon 70-300VR and Nikon T6 filter
Focal lens at 195mm
ISO 640
Aperture F/5.3
SS 1/400
Why I cannot attach the image in my forum gallery http://www.aulro.com/app/showphoto.php/photo/17013/ppuser/15856 ????
Sorry

Arthur the T6 is about +2.5 (might even be +3) diaopters on the lens. I use a 77mm Canon 500D (the T5 and T6 Nikon being almost impossible to obtain). It's +2 diaopters and is a real struggle on the 70-200 without a monopod at least. Very handy though inplace of my 150mm Macro lens to lug around.
What does the T6 bring infinity back to on the 70-300? I'm guessing around 400mm.

The 6T is +2.9 and a fraction and @ 300mm will be about 345mm focal distance.
Because the magnification @ 300mm oon the zoom lens plus the 6T there is very little room to play regarding the distance if a sharp image is what the photographer like to have.
I will try on the tripod and using manual focus and wit a flower to see if I can get a sharp image.
This is the magnification of the Nikon and Canon diaopters
Nikon 3T 1.5 52mm
Nikon 4T 2.9 52mm
Nikon 5T 1.5 62mm
Nikon 6T 2.9 62mm
Canon 500D 2.0 52mm, 58mm, 72m, 77mm
Canon 250D 4.0 52mm, 58mm

At 345mm on that lens doesn't leave much room for movement given the narrow field of view at 300mm zoom.
The other thing I'm finding helps with setting up a close up tripod shot is LiveView on the D3s. You have this on the D300s too.

I'm going away this weekend so I'll post another of the series I took last week, just in case I don't make it back with anything.
