It astounds me when people say that Landrover parts prices are expensive.
I just ordered a new dual mass flywheel,clutch kit,master and slave cylinders,new radiator,thrust washers and seals/gaskets for the transfercase/CDL.
The bill,just short of $1600.:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
Cant complain at that,I hear a pajahero DM flywheel and clutch kit is $3000+.

How about a genuine front coil spring for a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. $450.00 + trade price, thank you very much.

The Landy prices can be scary, but you search long enough you find some reasonable prices.

I am pretty sure Land Rover don't makes clutches but source them from Valeo, so buying an after market clutch kit at least, souldn't be a problem as it would be the identical replacement part. It is worth comparing prices. Having said that, if you buy the genuine part, you will get the correct item.
As for the Dual Mass Flywheel. I am unsure who makes these for Land Rover. This is the expensive item on your shopping list.
This one got me though. The other day I was talking to a person who paid $1500 for a ZF auto gearbox controller (the small silver box under the passengers seat) including installation, after having been quoted $2300, all for an item which in today's age of electronics would cost $20 to manufacture!

I dont think that LR parts prices are that bad, of course no ones to have to fork out for bits that arent shiny and fun, problems is there are only so many local suppliers so its always a supply/ demand problem. Price a similar item for a jap vehicle and they are usually on par if not more expensive.

I reckon on the whole they are pretty good, but some can be excessive if bought direct through LR. For example the humble 300Tdi vac pump. $1300 from LR, prices can range up to about $450 (MAX) from aftermarket suplier, genuine WABCO.
And the new Adwest steering box; D1, Defender and RRC 4 bolt. $3500 from LR, $1200 to $1300 from others. Same part:)

thats cheap.... for me to replace the ECU for the engine in the bushmaster is a $5k parts exercise and the TX isnt much better.
you're paying for the software..... at least thats my theory.
