Hi all,
just discovered (to my annoyance) that one of the studs on my Disco 2's rear door spare holder has been replaced with an 18mm (i think) bolt/washer/nut arrangement. Luckily i noticed this at home and not 200kms from nowhere with no phone reception. :D
Anyone know what bolt / thread sizes the D2 wheel nuts are? I'd like to fix this up pronto, cos it's a pain having one nut that needs a different tool! grr.
Cheers
Wil

Down to the nut and bolt shop or bolt pro or alike, 1 bolt 1 nut and a spring washer and bolt your spare up, all done ;)

:D Yeah that's where I was heading.. I tried a wheel nut (Thanks again by the way!) on a thread tester and it seemed a bit loose, but then when I tried it back at home on the orig stud it felt about the same. I'll go see what I can dig up.

While your down there, get a few bits so you can make that actuator for your CDL, :D,

Disco II studs are 14mm (M14).
You cannot buy them from Landrover for the spare wheel carrier - they will want you to buy the complete wheel carrier.
When I broke one, I simply took one of the wheel nuts to the local bolt supplier and they sold me one the required length - I knocked the remains of the broken one out of the wheel carrier and welded the new bolt in its place.
Toyota Landcruiser 100 series wheel studs are also M14 - you might get away with using one of these if you can find one the correct length.

Bingo! Right on the money BM.. 14mm bolt did the job perfectly.
Don't have a welder, so I had to use a slim nut to hold it and then add a second washer to the wheel nut. works fine.

I'm on it! Decided I'll try and go the non electrical path with a lever / cable setup. Just gotta hunt around for the replacement Hi/Low shifter. etc
