I Think they are 108 inch same as a p38a. doesnt matter if it pokes out the garage a bit as long as youve got one :)

I just went and measured my 1994 soft dash LSE using a plumb bob to mark measuring spots on the concrete. It is fitted with a genuine Landrover bullbar [from new] and a tow bar. The tow bar without the hitch is shorter than the factory rear bar so this will never be a worry.
From its most extreme front and rear points the total length is 4.735 metres.

Reminds me of when I wanted to know the weight of the brush bar assembly for my P38 to calculate shipping costs.
I posted the question on Rangerovers.net and a guy in Iowa, USA had one in his garaged (unmounted), took it in and weighed it on his bathroom scales and replied, all within about half an hour.
Gotta love it.
Not all LSE's were soft dash (SRS airbags). If it's not the soft dash model then a bull bar should be no problem.

1. Yes augmenting is a word. Look it up.
2. Why are you getting rid of the Deefer?
3. There must be some bits that could "fall off" your Defender onto mine, then.
Dave are you SURE ? I've never seen a non-soft dash LSE.
Maybe there were old style ones in the UK ? What about here though ?
I know LSE specs in UK and Australia were different (UK had bigger engine for example).

I paid for an augmentation once (not for me :o ) and that cost about the same as my soft dash !!
weeds- ive got an almost new full LPG set up for a 94 rangie including RPI ignition, magnecors etc if your thinking of going that way. its got a brand new correct size converter as well, engine slipped a liner on the way back from getting it fitted :( so its in the shed waiting for a TDI conversion.
there are some well priced LSE's for sale at the moment.

Vled - Qote - Dave are you SURE ? I've never seen a non-soft dash LSE.-Unquote.
Yes Vled, there are non soft dash LSEs in Australia [they were the first ones here and have the traditional square Rangie dash]. I have a mate who has one of those - 1993 model - a great car and still like new.

...the deal if far from done........not easy giving up the defer
1. Yes augmenting is a word. Look it up. er nah, figured if i don't know the meaning by now there is a fair chance i will never need to used the word
2. Why are you getting rid of the Deefer? air con, auto, have a conversation at 100 clicks with the passengers, leg room, elbow room
3. There must be some bits that could "fall off" your Defender onto mine, then. like?, i'm thinking the pto winch might end up on the LSE

Really ? Legally ? What sort ?
ARB tell me they have never and will never make an airbag compatible bar for the Classic RR.
As far as I know modifying an airbag compat bar from a disco to fit on a RR might work but wouldn;t be legal - different vehicle mass etc means crush cans wouldnt be exactly compatible or some such rubbish.

If you get an ARB Rangie classic bull bar ,Carefully cut out the existing chassis mountings, and matching them to the Disco 1 ARB compression canisters.your bull bar will technically be air bag compatible. If after you have carried out this operation and than present the bar to an engineer .He will roll his eyes at you and tell that a plate is not necessary.Remember to remove all recovery points on the bar because its now is only good for bashing into things. If by chance you happen to meet a land rover engineer. He'll tell you that the compression canisters have little to do with airbag technology.
OH!Dear . What a waste of a bull bar.
As for airbags. They are classified as exsposives , and the manufacturer deems them inoperative and out of date after ten years. It is illegal to transport out of date explosives around!!!!!!!!!!
Over to you guys.

So if you can't have recovery points on them then how do you fit a winch to one?

Hey Mr LSE seller... you're going to need a new nickname.
How does "rwishihadntsoldmylse" grab you ?
Sounds better than "rwfl2" and will, in time, be more accurate !

Gooday Mr I really miss my LSE.
I don't know if I really want to sell it.The Flandy2 goes in June, and the new
beast arrives, which makes the LSE. completely obsolete! Some suggest that I sell it .But unless I got a good price for it I would be tempted to just park it in the shed for ever and ever!!!!.

G'day RWLSE :)
Well, you could just do that and then bring it out for the "All British Day" display and at swap meets/shows might get a "people's choice" or 2 ;)
cheers
