Coolant hoses and reuse

I’m currently changing all my coolant hoses (Def 2001) as a precautionary measure prior to my trip to the big park up north. I estimated that over the four week period I’ll cover some 12,000K’s.

The hoses haven’t been changed since new but all look fine. I was going to save and take a couple with me as emergency replacements however I was told that once a pipe has been removed it deteriorates rapidly and therefore useless?

Is this correct.

If i was you id replace them all with new and take the old ones as spares. As long a theyre still flexible, soft and the insides havent started deteriorating they should be fine.

I'd say if you replace your hoses with new ones, you won't need and spares, save your space and weight. Take a roll of self amalgamating tape as an emergency repair if you are still worried about hose failures. This stuff will seal any split or staked hose to get you out of trouble. This is available from most Electrical Wholesalers. This is also another product marketed as rescue tape for the same applications.
