On advice from Baz, I emailed Ultimate Suspension about some new rear shocks,,
as soon as I mentioned SLS they just said no.
and very politely ran away,,,:D

Is the valving THAT different?

My sources (T2) tell me more rebound is needed than normal coils,,

anybody notice that after fitting normal shocks?

I have the new OME nitrocharger sport on mine. Had them for about 6 months & love them. Have had no issues with them. I also changed the front springs as well, they were the originals so they were 10yr old shocks/springs. Had OME in my disco 1 & these offer a better ride than the old, although it is a better ride anyway!!!! I can comfortably recommend them although suspension is such a personal taste.
My car is TD5 with SLS spacers & 150l long range tank. Even when full, doesn't feel any different when I go over bumps.

We use double acting large bore foam cell shocks for installations of air bellows in work utes. This is to take out the 'boing boing' ( hard to describe ) out of the rear end. Essentially, a leaf sprung ute with an air bellows for adjustable load carrying, has a massive amount of compression resistance, and bugger all rebound resistance. This can result in a lot of bodyroll, and a bunny hop type ride on lumpy roads.

Can't see why this would not work with other air suspension. Just about every large shock manufacturer has a foam cell variant. OME, Pedders, Tough Dog etc .

Another option would be a matched high pressure gas shock. Most high pressure gas shocks have far more resistance on rebound, than on compression.

I would try a few more sources before giving up.

Pedro, I have a set of efs on the back, they've done a lot of work and I can not complain at all, cheap also. They ran with standard bags and modded bags and all was good. When I purchased them no one really new what would suit so we went for a shock that was set up for a standard nissan weight. All came out working well:D (normally everything takes me 1/2 doz goes)
Hope this helps

I have the Lovells Gas Legend from Shane at Suspension Stuff.
SLS with Spacers.
I am happy and have no regrets.
Cheers.

Roughly going through the same issue...

check out http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatter/101421-shock-absorber-tech-advice-needed-sls-vs-coil.html.

Fluids has an interesting find in that it looks like the part #s for rear shack in the later D2s are the same?????

I've just bitten the bullet for a try and get a couple of dobinson shock from Suspension Stuff. They seem to have a good return policy.
