Ongoing saga...
Been moving house from melbourne to wangaratta and using a 10' covered furniture van to transport furniture etc. behind my 01 Disco2 TD5. Done several trips now and sitting on between 80 -100Km's hr on the hume I am using around 24L/100km's :mad::mad:
Disco has been remapped via Tombie and has had the IC upgraded (thanks graeme :)) in the last week and still the mileage is crap!!
In the last week I have also changed all oils and filters .... transmission fluid was done about 2 months ago and after smelling oil burning (trans fumes) on the last trip I drained it and replaced with Nulon 100% Synthetic Multi Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid ... not cheap, but meets/exceeds LR spec and is supposedly good for towing. I've also cleaning sensor in the air box and rechecked the connections on both air box and maf sensors as they seemed to be slightly corroded. I suppose there is a slight possibility that the maf I have just installed (genuine) may be faulty but I wouldn't expect it to be. Could such bad economy be caused by a dodgy wastegate modulator
Got another load packed now ready to take up tomorrow and had a quick check of the fuel metering with the nanocom. At idle (765rpm)Airflow: 55.7-57.8, Manifold Pressure 101.18Kpa, EGR Modulator & Wastegate Modulator both at 0... <-- is this normal for egr and wastegate??
Any suggestions on why such lousy mileage would be appreciated :confused:

4 things

MAF if you have a Nanocom air flow readings should be 60 to 90 at idle, 500+ over 3000rpm, those readings are to low at idle, go for a drive and take the reading at 3000rpm under load, that will confirm if it's not working.

2 wastegate modulator, again the Nanocom will confirm if it's working(I forget the readings) but if the numbers come up it's working 0 means it's not working.

3 oil in the injector harness you'll see the oil on the plug at the ECU.

4 intercooler hoses have delaminated.

mmmm there's an echo in here:angel:

Baz.

EDIT; Also the AAP sensor could be faulty too, that's the second sensor on the airbox, just because you cleaned it, doesn't mean it's working properly.

Also if the EGR reads 0 it's not working either, remove it with a kit to blank it off, they are cheap, or take it off and clean it thoroughly.

thanks for your reply baz,
I'm just heading off on another trailer run again and I'll try to check with the nanocom during the trip.
thanks again .... dave
