Has anyone out there encountered this problem. It really has got me beat.Have changed engine mounts, exhaust front pipe and main muffler, have removed main fan and run it ,have disconnected electric fan and run it,front drive shaft uni joints have been done.Engine Ecm was upgraded a few years ago but the problem was not there after that it just seems to have developed.

Had the same problem with a customer's D2 TD5. I replaced the (failed) rubber donut on the tailshaft. The noise was very noticeable under load, going up hill. I undid the donut and turned it 1/6 turn so the drive is through the thin bits of the donut instead of the thick bits. Seems to have managed the problem OK.

Mine did it at any speed at 2200rpm - ie it would not apear to be the tailshaft as that would be speed related not revs. However it would only do it when moving, not in neutral. Then the flex plate disintegrated.
It gets more painful from there on :(
Best not to ask longtrack :)

Cheers,
