Hi
Does anyone know where to get the mesh baby window shades (the ones that fit over the whole window) for defenders from? I have seen a few defenders locally (Brisbane area) with them fitted but the normal auto stores don't seem to be able to get them.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks, Martin

Dont do it man! They ruin your seals and the paint...

They dont work effectively and they look damn ugly...

And for the price they're 2/3rds of the way to a high quality tint job.

Top quality tint, with UV blocking will keep the vehicle cooler, look great and last decades...

And bubs cant get burnt through it, or get hot either....

Had them on my county now for about 4 years. Ordered some news ones recently through Auto Barn. They are made by Shevron and were about $50. My county is white, and the only problem that I've had is they can leave a black mark where the elastic part flaps around on the paint. Can easily clean this off though with a bit of Turtle Wax - hasn't damaged the paint yet.
Good thing is they still get the shade with the window fully down, and they can't thow their toys out!
Bit ugly, I agree, but once they faded they weren't so obvious.

I have a ultra dark tint was on when i bought it... and yes its great for keeping sun out...
problem is at night is i cant see a thing! the internal reflections are insane... so if i look in the rear view mirror i see a reflection of what is in front of me!
not a major issue in the day tho :)

Have a look in K-Mart or BigW auto sections for some that come as a perforated vinyl shade that clings to the inside of the glass, you need two for each window of the Defender. We got some to keep sun out of the back when travelling and believe it or not they stayed on the windows incredibly well. Think they were about $5 a pair.

yeah i just got my white 110 tinted, looks awesome! and keeps out so much heat! makes life easier for the a/c too.

but yeah, the reflection from the back window at night is a bit annoying,
there is a tint now for house windows called "Night-Series" that is supposed to have that problem fixed, i'm thinking of trying that on the back window instead. this mob were great KINNY TINT AUSTRALIA - Mobile Window Tinting (http://kinnytint.com)

I made some mesh screens that go on the inside of the rear doors of my County. It's exactly the same materials as you would make a fly screen for a house window out of. You can get all the raw materials at Bunnings to do it yourself or any window manufacturer would make some up in no time. They are a very light aluminium frame. I hold them in place with a few bits of self adhesive velcro. I originally made them so we could sleep in the back of the car with the windows down and keep the insects out. I used dog mesh which is thicker and stronger and blocks out quite a bit of sun, but you could use many different types of material in the same application, depending what you want from it.
They're cheap, easy to make, light and don't damage your paint or seals.

too easy Murray!
you can also buy one way mesh, so you can see out but nobody can see in...

Hi all
Thanks for your replies.
Decided to go with the tinting for the heat reduction and the UV protection for the front seat passengers.
Got it done today and the old girl looks fantastic. Got to get rid of the old decals now!
Cheers, Martin
