Where does everyone buy there accessories from. I;ve been looking around and finding the price differs quite a bit, but that is only online prices.

I've found the "real" dealers/ retailers are competing quite well with the "online phantoms" and if it's only an initial few extra bucks you have to pay it doesn't then have the added cost of that wonderful service called "postage and handling" and it's a lot easier to take it back if it doesn't fit, and you can usually get a bit of free advice that could save you money (if you're doing a bit of guessing about the source of your problem, that is). And you've got it in your hot little hands straight away. So, I've been buying from the real people but still shop around in your area.

i got prices on all filters down at Repco yesterday...
oil - $18.00
fuel - $58.90:o
air - $85.00:o

went online, and found a good aussie seller who got straight back to me about postage, whole 200/300tdi kit for $60 plus $20 for postage, or $30 for up to 4 kits!

he's got a phone number on there to give him a call about anything...

i've been chasing quotes on shipping prices from UK for other accessories, they are hard to get a response from i've found, slack pohm's never reply my questions!

For accessories other than maintenance items, I would give ARB and TJM a call and get them to send you a catelogue. ARB used to have a price list as well, including installation.

IMHO there is nothing like a close look at a product to get an idea of quality and finish. Here in Sydney there are a number of retail outlets selling Land Rover and as well as generic 4wd products.

We also have a caravan and camping show coming up here in Sydney next month - I believe the Adelaide show has already been on (but I could be wrong about this) This can be a source of lots of information and comparisons.

Once you have found a specific accessory you are after, then go chasing prices, be it on the internet, through shops / dealers of wherever.

Opposite Lock tends to have a Land Rover bent and they seem to stock much of what you will find detailed on the Dolium website (Dolium are primarily importers). Their website is http://www.oppositelock.com.au (http://www.oppositelock.com.au/view/SITE_4/media/static/default.html) .

check out the verandah section here on the forum, a few guys here sell aftermarket accessories at reasonable prices and daves interesting things is pretty good

I have just bought in from the UK, about A$940.00 worth in Australia (+ freight on top of that) of accessories for just on $680.00 landed at my place. This was from MM 4x4 who did all I asked, although in a pretty casual manner. The bits took 11 days which has included Easter, so this was pretty good. Bits are for my Puma 110 crew cab and include a rear wheel carrier (which will need some alteration). Freight was almost 50% of the cost.:)
And memo to Gmeddy - I have had trouble from the poms getting them to reply too. Perhaps they don't talk to convicts!!

Just as an aside on the imports - if goods you want to import are over AUD $1000 then you will also pay duty and taxes and these sting.

I have order things from Brookwells and intentionally separated/spaced out orders and even paying multiple lots of freight can be cheaper than placing one larger order and then having to pay duty and taxes.
