What's the Average Wait Time on a D4??

Hi all,

I ordered a D4 HSE early in December 2009 and still haven't been given a chassis number from the dealer. Initially my contract said delivery in Mar/Apr but apparently my vehicle hasn't even gone to build yet. And I'm starting to get a bit peeved :mad:. In fact the dealer's starting to dodge my calls... didn't really think I was that pesky.

I'm getting a bit worried about the price. I laid down a deposit and signed the contract which has an amount on it based on the negotiations at the time. But I've noticed that on the CarSales website similar dealer demo vehicles are being advertised up to $5-10 grand more than my contract price! Do you reckon the dealer is going to try to up my price when the vehicle is finally delivered?

I've been told the hold up with my order is the surround camera system. The dealer reckons that LR UK is having trouble sourcing these - which sounds odd seeing they are standard on Rangies and the V8!!

What's really p##ing me off is that I sold my Landcruiser privately and have the money sitting in the bank :D. I'm currently driving an old smoke- billowing creaky 1992 Paj - it's gut wrenching everytime I drive past a shiney new D4!!:(

So I'm putting the questions out there. What wait times have you guys experienced? Did the dealer hit you with a price rise? Is the surround camera issue b/s or not? Is it worth contacting LR directly to find out where my vehice is at?

I ordered a new Mini last year. Ordered August Delivered December. I didn't get a VIN until late October.

Honestly I wouldn't get to stressed it will happen you just need to be a bit Zen about it. There is a rumour of engine supply problems as well.

Lucky for us there was D4 in stock that was 99% the car we wanted.

I think this is pretty standard.

I ordered my D4 3.0SE (eDiff, no other extra's) in Dec 09, and got delivery last week. :)

Consistent picture is that those with surround cameras are taking heaps longer.

Thanks all, seems patience (of which I'm much devoid) is going to be a virtue.

Ryrrek, your dates and specs are virtually the same as mine - except you've seemed to have ticked a few more options boxes than me. That sure is a hell of a beast you've ordered. What excuse are you getting for the delay?

There is a delay in ordereing/receiving some vehicles, especially HSE variants as some of the components are now hard to get.
This is in no-way LR's fault as when the GFC hit it collapsed a lot of small companies in the UK where such componentry was manufactured & then supplied to LR for the line build.
LR are now sourcing & in some circumstances actually purchasing these companies so the process can still continue, but unfortunately this takes time.
A little patience is what is required & hopefully this will let you understand what is actually happening & ease the frustration a little.;)

It will be worth the wait tho'

I would love to have the answer to why the Sales person did not exlain to what the situation is.
But i dont!
