Treads

I bit the bullet and started building a set of shelves for the rear of the Deefer yesterday.
My main requirements were:
1) Access to the fridge when the back is loaded.
2) Fridge mounted low enough for vertically challenged wife to get to.
3) Access to recovery gear when the back is loaded.
4) A mounting point for rear stereo speakers.
5) Storage for batteries
So with that I started working out some options and came up with this:

Now bear with me, I'm going to line it with marine carpet and install a proper fridge slide.
I cut out holes for a pair of 6"x9" Rampage speakers obtained from Supercheap Auto for the princely sum of $59 on special :D I figure they're going to get wrecked anyway. They sound surprisingly good!

Second battery is mounted forward in a plastic box. I plan on adding another one behind it soon. I'm yet to cut a hole above that area. I'll get to that when I come back from our trip to the snowies (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/101834-heading-down-mountains-again.html)

Looks good with the fridge in. Can't wait to get a slide for it.

You might be wondering about the vertical piece added on top of the high shelf? ;) It's temporary and is simply to designate a spot for buggalugs here:

His bed will sit on the high shelf above the fridge. The rest of our gear will go on the low section to the right.
I'll do an update when I fit the third battery, cut an access flap for them and carpet the whole lot :)
