Hi everyone,

I am Seriously going to take the plunge and buy a late model D3 or a new 2.7 D4, but i am a little concerned about the service and maintenance requirements as there is no longer a land rover dealership in Newcastle. i live in the hunter valley and it would be a real pain in the a__se if i had to travel to parramatta to get it serviced. i understand warranty claims would have to go through the appropriate channels.
So my question is " are there any places that are qualified/certified to service my D3/D4"

Thanks in advance
Paddy

I know that All four x 4 at Kotara service D3's. There was one in for a service the other day when I was up there and when I asked they told me they service heaps of them.
They seem to have a good mechanical workshop, overhauling all their own modules - gearboxes, diffs, ..... seem very professional.
Probably worth a visit if you are in the area.

There is a new Land Rover dealer about to open in or near Gatehead. It's behind the Mercedes dealer.I think it's called Hunter Prestige Cars.

A little off topic but has anyone had any experience with the Land Rover Dealer at Gateshead, Newcastle. Thinking of buying a 2011 RRS 3.lt from them. Any feedback good or bad would be appreciated.

Hunter Land Rover
6-8 Arnhem Close
Bennetts Green
NSW 2290
T: 02 4974 4222
They have been up and running for about 6mths. So far reports are all good re sales and service.

Another option for servicing is Singleton Auto Centre (formally Teasdales of Singleton and a former L/R Dealer). This is also owned by Hunter Land Rover and is a LR services centre.
Derrick Watkins is the service manager (he and Luke are LandRover mechanics and L/R owners)
65 George Street, Singleton. Phone Number is 0265721655

Thanks for the feedback, ideally would like to deal with the local dealer if he can provide a reliable back up service. Nice to know there is a a good service agent in Singleton if needed.

I didn't realise Evan had sold out.
A fellow Landy owner from my part of the valley has been taking their TD5 powered 110 there and are very, very happy with the service so far.
No one else around here has the diagnostics for the electronics.

Apparently Hunter Valley L/R bought out Singo Auto Centre back April/May 2010.
ANd as you said, they are the only one's with the required electrickery to diagnose the L/R range.
Derrick Watkins is SO KEEN on L/R's & doing servicing on them, that he forked out of his own pocket for the diagnostics gear!

Also - isn't the Bennetts Green LR dealer actually part of the Mercedes dealership at the same location.

The Bennetts Green dealership is part of HPMG (Hunter Prestige Motor Group) which includes among other brands the Mercedes marque.

Landlover4 - I am awaiting delivery of my D4 HSE with E-Diff from this dealer. I dealt with Stephen Tuckerman and he was very approachable and beat Sydney dealerships on price. Obviously I'm not in a position yet to comment on aftersales service.

I have made some enquiries regarding non-dealer servicing and the All 4 x 4 in Kotara and Singleton are the two possible options l have identified.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Trif, yes I spoke to Stephen and I agree he was very helpful and seemed negotiable on price, unfortunately the factory discount ($6000)for 2010 (MY11) builds was running out the next day so I missed that deadline, probably wait for the 2011 builds to arrive unless a very good deal presents itself on a 2010 build. Please keep us updated on the delivery process and after sales service. Congratulations on your purchase, lucky devil.

i just had my first service at 24000 k on the D4, i went to the bennetts green dealership, i found the experience acceptable, dropped the car off at 9 and it was ready at 1 as planned, i used the Freelander 2 that they have as a loan car, you need to organise this with them as its pretty popular. The new showroom looks ok, Rob Carrington was my salesman back in July, he was very good, but he has since moved on.
I've only had the 1 problem with mine, about 3 months into it the left front height sensor failed, this caused the car when turned off to have a very awkward stance, the right rear would be real low. They diagnosed that problem ordered parts and repaired, they seem ok, Cheers Pat
