Air con pipe

Has any one ever welded up there air con pipe the one that rubs on the radiator going to the condenser?I ordered both the pipes from the compressor but it did'nt come with the bloody pipe that was damaged.

No one has had this happen before? Very strange i thought it would have been common....

My 130 has had the hi side pipe from condenser to reciever drier welded up at some stage previous to me owning the truck. Looks like it rubbed through on the inner guard near the plastic cover for the top shock mount. Has been like that for at least 3 years and is'nt leaking. Worth a go I recon.

All the alloy pipes on my Defenders aircon was replaced as it is a common problem with them rubbing on something and the best way around the problem is to get Pirtek or Enzed to fabricate them in high pressure hose.
It costs the same as the factory replacements in alloy pipe.
the rubber high pressure hose can be covered in stainless protection sheath if needed, the hose will flex and give more than the alloy pipe and give less problems in the long run.

We repaired 3 leaks in the A/C system piping on the project documented below. I am not 100% certain if the link are the exact rods used for the repair, but they were similar - a piece of cake. I bought these at a show, after having seen them being demonstrated.

The photo below shows one of the leaks after the repair. We had another leak where the turbo hose passes the A/C line under the bonnet. This is difficult to see as it was on the underside of the line.

The trick is to stop the pipes from rubbing against other pipes and panels, by adding a blob of silastic on any areas where pipes, radiator hoses, oil lines etc pass each other.
