Will be converting the 110 Isuzu County Wagon to a tub rear or tray:)

What are your thoughts on pros and cons of tray versus tub:confused:

If you are putting a tray on, I did this some time ago & here is the link.
I find the tray is very versatile & accessable, plus it can take an embankment swipe & survive.
Here is the thread.

G'day,

While tubs are good, I was of the opinion that tray backs (flat decks here in NZ) were better. Now having had a tray back for some two years and numerous heavy loads off road later, I am thinking the centre of gravity should be lower if intending to carry heavy loads off road. I am thinking of rebuilding a tray to have the robustness of the steel framed tray back but lowered to have small wheel wells thus lowering the CoG a bit. I figure in some of the situations I found myself in 100mm - 150mm lower would make the difference between getting real concerned (me and the laundry lady know what I mean  ) or simply driving through and going with the rolling.

Consider it carefully relating back to what you carry (weight and bulk) and where you carry it (fully articulating suspension or mild etc).

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks for the feedback Dave and Phil.

The tray won't really be for any major offroading , that's what the Defender 110 Wagon will be for:)

It will be used for some type of work though , most likely weekender plumbing jobs or mini earthworks;)

I think the tray may be more versatile.

Plus I may have a tray that needs a bit of a tidy up for $ 100 as opposed to a VGC tub ( wrong color ) for $ 500.

Hopefully tracking down an extra cab and roof already made up:D

Deej , I work in Mulgrave and will have to drop by one night for a sticky beak and some advice when the project draws closer if that's okay.

Like you , we are just about to get stuck into a new 4 car underhouse garage that should be ready for a project in about 3-4 months.
