G'day All,

Just wondering if I should feel offended or proud. Earlier today I was driving 'the Mistress' (Defender 110) down Brisbane Rd, Ipswich towards Sizzler when two uniformed Police Officers made themselves obvious by jumping out from behind a telephone pole with a speed gun in hand. But they looked at me and didn't even raise the speed gun to get a reading:mad:..........it must be that they recognised the LandRover and know that we are all law abiding citizens....yeh that must be it;)

Downhill with a tailwind was it? :p

Talk about being out in force... I've never seen so many cop cars in one day. They were everywhere.

Even saw one on the Ipswich - Boonah Rd just after I'd accelerated to overtake a slow car in front who kindly decided to accelerate as I started to pass him ;)

That speedo is reading 60, but if it is anything like those that Im know in the LR poducts that I know, the true speed is around 55.
I have checked with a GPS, the overhead gantries and the roadside advisory trailers - all agree. My defender and all others, by comparison, read 10% over.

If you have tyres smaller than those that I have, then yours would read even more in error.

And the odometer reads 5% over, just to be different.

No, they thought you were driving a Series Landy and thus incapable of exceeding the speed limit.

I recall a Series I owner in Brissie being pulled up by cops for travelling too slowly on a highway (or motorway) a few years back.

That section of Brisbane Rd is just starting to go uphill.
Doesn't it **** you off when they start to accelerate after going slowly for K's when you try to pass.:angrylock:

Closer to 55 than 60 I reckon but that fact that they were looking straight at me and didn't even raise the gun.......or was it the wife yawning at the same time then bursting out in hysterical laughter that bruised the ego a little bit?

It must be the Titanium panels that absorb radar energy which registers a small foot print:Rolling::Rolling::Rolling:

Are speed guns heavy??

They may have thought it would take several minutes to pick out the vehicle from background pedestrian movement.

cheers

Always have a good chuckle when I get the headlight flash on the highway warning me of police ahead.

Happy when I can get to 100km yet alone sit on it.

Ive never heard such rot, everyone knows its the vibrations of the panels,,, they get so many false readings the gun cant sort out the return

(on a similar vein I dont get asked to show ID going onto the base if Im driving fozzy, apparently no one else would drive something that beat up....)

From the Pictures I've seen Fozzy doesn't look that Beat up.

the personnel on the base are Just jealous they can't find a vehicle in the same vintage:mad::D

Truth be known, they recognised it as a Land Rover, then thought

"IF it has a speedo the guy still has no indication of his real speed"

Martyn
100kph = somewhere between 90 and 110, but most likely 85 :D:D
