Second Spare for Defender

Can any one tell me if Disco 1 wheels will fit a Defender.

Stud pattern ?

Off sets ?

I have found 4 rims for $150.

I need a second spare for a up coming trip, this seems like a good deal.

Is there better options for a second spare wheel ?

Does any one else need a second spare rim ?

Any thoughts ?

when we took a second spare with us, we just took the tyre no the rim to save on weight.

Hi Drover, I have a second set of Disco 1 wheels with muddies on them:

The Disco 1 steel wheels can hardly be considered "Heavy Duty" so I don't know if I'd use them for an overland trip with a fully loaded 110, possibly suitable as a spare though.

Nothing wrong with Disco steel wheels for the puirpose stated (better than the standard alloys anyway, at least you cn get steelies bent back into shape in any wheel place in most wheel places in the back of beyond) . And they fit perfectly.

Could be wrong here but i thought the load rating was:

Boost alloys ~1400kg
D1 steels ~1600kg
Wolf ~2200kg

So D1 rims should cope.

Disco or deefer (steel) wheels will work well as a second spare.. but you would want to have them the same as your usual ones if possible as they are different widths. You can pick up Deefer ones or Disco ones for very little money. Both are good wheels. If you currently have boost alloys the Disco ones are the same width. They will allow you to run wider tyres etc.

We had a set of Disco wheels on our previous TD5 and had the center moved to improve the vehicle turning circle.
