Well most of us are home now after a pretty casual Easter Long Weekend Camp.
Most of the crew arrived Good Friday and set up camp, with just enough room for all.
In the evening once everyone settled in, we had the usual camp fire Banter Session.:D;)
A record may of been set, with 53 people counted around the fire, with still more people cooking dinner or the like, who where not there at that point.
Many stories told and plenty of Bull for good measure:D
On Saturday a convoy of 20 cars headed to a property near Boonah, where we met Weeds.
Weeds took us around his friends private property where it offered some difficult tracks such as High Knob, Fiat Hill etc.
This was a great chance to test out some of the various model cars and their capabilty. We had five D3's on this trip, and as always demonstrate the amazing ability these cars really do have.
We headed down to the western edge of Maroon Dam , where we had lunch and decided to head for camp.
After the main group decided to call it a day, we had 7 cars remaining that wished to tackle some more difficult tracks.
I am sure we will have some pics of this part of the trip and will show the muddy sections where some had some difficulty.
Saturday night offered another camp fire banter season and entertainment offered & the Easter Bunny arrived for the kids.
Sunday offered various activities where everyone really just did their own thing, local drives, visit the Heritage Festival at Rathdowney or just kick back at camp and veg out.
The local river offered a meeting spot to have a swim, a coldie and have a yak for while.
The Hohars, Glen & Perry arrived mid morning in their Series vehicles and had lunch and showed us their fabulous old vehicles.
Monday most people packed up and headed home after a casual relaxing Easter Long Weekend.
From all accounts by the reaction of most, we look at having another trip next year, and hope to visit some more areas within the region to see and do.
My camera was on the blink, so other participants have taken plenty of photos to show what we did over our stay.

A special Thanks to all who attended and it is hoped that everyone had a good time and look forward in maybe seeing a good crowd attend next years Pilgrimage.:)

Thanks Dave for a great trip. Although it was tiring chasing a toddler around for a few days. Here are some some photos.

Lovin that pic Inside ;). Anyhoo...hats off to Dave for organising a great weekend away and for Weeds for the Saturday day trip. My first trip with Sharlea and Jackjack...........well lets just say I may wait to Jackson is 3 before next trip :o. Great to get to know some of the newer members in the inaugural bonding around the campfire and catching up with the REMLR/GCLRO members where myself and the kids got to see some history. Top stuff.

Also big thanks to Pete, Kelvin and Greg for helping Smokey get going today when main and dual battery were rooted. I really appreciated the help

Am knackered...so will post up some pics tomorrow.....poor poor Pete ,

Thanks for organising a fantastic weekend Dave. Your time and planning is very much appreciated. Our GCLRO exclusive spot gave us real serenity by the water - while the hoards fought it out in the dust above! It was great that the park gave us leaway with the campfire / noise 10pm curfew - it allowed for some great yarns by the fire.

It's just a pitty that some members chose to be raucus and keep the whole camp grounds up until all hours instead of enjoying the family friendly campfire atmosphere. It frustrates me that mates in our own club didnt take a 1am 'please be considerate of others' request seriously - continuing their banter for hours after. All noise in the park was stopped at 10pm with a whistle, except for GCLRO members who had a special noise priveledge. As a founding member, it saddens me that our club projected such a bogan element, complete with swearing and yahooing.

I don't mean to sound negative, but after only 4hours sleep per night thanks to a few inconsiderate GCLRO members & invitees, I feel that something needs to be said. The campfire behaviour is what I would expect at the Logan Challenge, not something I would choose to expose my wife to. We only chose to go away this Easter as it was a family trip where we would know all of our camping neighbours - whom we presumed would all be courteous of their fellow GCLRO friends.

Thanks again Dave. Your choice of venue was fantastic. Sadly, due to the attitude of a select few, I think it will be my last GCLRO trip for a long time.

Good to see that the majority of you enjoyed your weekend, I always enjoy the banter around the fire of course (especially if Grimace is involved) also the company is good too (competeing with Stevo on who falls asleep in front of the fire first is always fun :wasntme:).

I spent my easter getting the bullet sorted which means phase 1 of project bullet is done also having to work on Saturday was a bugger of course (have to pay the bills :().

Well I'm off to Levuka for a few days so now it's my turn to kick back and enjoy:cool: I'll try and get some pics as I don't really get too many on trips.

Patsy and I only partook of the day trip down and back on Sunday, but thoroughly enjoyed the little of the Easter camaraderie that we did sample.
First impressions as we drove in was, "How can they fit so many people into the one small area" but we were pleased to see the separate area for the GCLRO group. That was great.
All the Series vehicles performed remarkably well on the day, only being passed by approximately 3,284 vehicles on the way down and slightly less on the way back! Not really, we sat around the 80kph mark all the way.
The striking feature that stands out in the GCLRO to me, is the great social attitude within the club as well as the diversity of people and machines, and that was evident over the small sector of the weekend that we sampled.
Didn't take too many photos, just this first one caught my eye, the similarity in the camouflage patterns of the shorts worn by one member and the olive drab used by the military!
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2010/04/1510.jpg

And of course there has to be the mandatory shot of real Land Rovers somewhere, from Left to Right; 1970s, 1960s and 1950s.
These were the vehicles that opened up the country before the young ones started putting on all that weight!!!
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2010/04/1511.jpg
Once again, thanks to all responsible for the organisation, well done, another great weekend!

We had a great weekend. Last minute decision to go when our usual camp got cancelled on us bit it was a pretty good option B :). Thanks Dave for organising it and thanks Weeds and the property owners for letting us have some fun on Saturday. Most of the photos I have were from Phil in the mini Pajero and here is one to prove that Scallops is right about this one being a future Landrover driver.

The turn out was huge. Great to see so many different vehicles and camping setup's.

Thanks Weed's for taking everyone for a drive.

I will get a collection of pics to post later in the week.

The only complaint I received from my crowd was the lack of shower facility's.

I guess a shower tent is another thing I will have to try and wedge into a crack somewhere.

I enjoyed the campfire activity's a little too much as usual. Sorry Camo!
I hope collecting firewood provides some compensation.
