Looking to mount a Series 1 Disco bullbar to my P38.
Is this a simple bolt on job or custom brackets required?
Thanks guys.

Hi Zem - I'm pretty sure the brackets will require a lot of customising to make them fit a P38A, with or without the crush cans.

I think Remy (on this forum) has shoehorned a Disco II bar on to his P38A with the assistance of "Andrew E".

A word of warning... you will probably void your insurance policy by fitting a non-SRS Airbag approved bar, or at least give them a way out should your car be involved in an accident. Maybe check with your insurance company (anonymously) what their policy is.

Cheers, Paul.

I was told a S1 bar bolts straight on with some drilling out of the mounting holes but i reckon there is more to it. The S2 needed the SRS brackets cut, modified and welded to fit. AndrewE made it look easy :).

Thanks guys, just a spew there isn't anything on the second hand market to fit our rigs. A $2k bar on a $10k truck is still hard for me to swallow...plus $1500 for a locker and compressor. Tough times indeed

ARB don't make a bar. HRA may soon have them back in production.

The HRA bars are indeed back, and we've already sold a few in the past couple of weeks :)

Prices are better than before but still not cheap... due to slimmer margins rather than reduced manufacturing costs... info and pricing at Vehicle protection | Hard Range Australia (http://www.hardrange.com/catalog/1)

BTW: the bar on my P38A may be up for sale soon if/when I swap over to the newer style bar.

Cheers, Paul.

We do already have them in production. We have sold 2 so far in the past month and are available to order thorugh our site (Hard Range Australia | Bespoke Stuff for your Range Rover (http://www.hardrange.com)). We make very very little profit on these to keep the cost down as low as possible and get more out there. Unfortunately the cost of making a bullbar from 10mm thick alloy is high, but gee its strong. Prices are not 2k either, well not since Paul and i have been on the scene, they start from $1760.

There were a few things i didnt like about adapting the d2 bar to remys car, first is the insurance thing, second is the fact the srs may not opperate as per normal, and third is the width. The arb bar is only just wide enough, as it sits flush with the sides of the car. Really, i would want a bar to stick out slightly and offer a little bit of protection on your wings, blinkers and bonnet.

If you would like to get a bit back to cover the cost of installing a bullbar, fog lights you can get 80-100 each on ebay. And if you have a good undamaged front bumper a pannel beater 'in need' will normally shell upto $450 for that too, and trust me, i get lots of calls for front undamaged bumperbars.
