I understand that the permit for the main part of the canning can be obtained from the ANFWDC however I um unclear what other permits there are and if they are necessary.

e.g. the exploroz website has:

Access to the Canning Stock Route from the north, specifically from Billiluna Community through to Well 51, can be obtained by requesting a permit from the Paruku Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) offices in either Billiluna or Mulan.

This permit also allows access to Paruku (Lake Gregory) within the IPA. Visitors driving through Paruku IPA along the Canning Stock Route will require a day pass, a cost of $10 per vehicle. Camping permits are $30 per vehicle for one night and $10 for each consecutive night.

Permit costs include a copy of the Paruku IPA Tourist Information Booklet which has great information about Paruku IPA projects, campsites, the environment, culture and appropriate protocols.

We will be doing the canning S-N - do we need this permit???

Also, the ANFWDC site mentions another group which has been granted native title over the section covering wells 5-15. Do we need a separate permit for that?

Are there any other areas we can get access to that we should apply for???

Gday Ben,
Its my understanding that the main Permit covers the whole of the CSR..if you wish to see the Calvert range you will require a seperate permit, the details are on the ANFWD website you mention..we have applied for this permit in Feb and are still waiting..

The permit at the northern end is required only if you plan on going thru the back of billiluna and out onto the tanimi track..

This is my understanding, and the claim from wells 5-15 is for the land either side of the CSR..

Hope you have more luck and a more rapid response than we have had..

Cheers Ean
