Wunderbar. But all a bit pointless, shows the Teutonic idea of a nights entertainment. You notice how the machine was locked in before any movement. No wonder the Fritz driving looked bored. Now if he was able to go over the top and down the other side, that would be fun to watch.

I'd say in control;) If it fell from that height a helmet wouldn't help a lot:eek: The sudden stop at the bottom would be a problem:o

Unusual boom dipstick configuration, looks more like a face shovel than an excavator.

custom built for that promo trick, the normal single ram actuator doesnt have enough go about it to be able to lift the unit, due to the magics of hydraulics they will support it while the vavles are closed off but the pumps cant usually push the bucket hard enough to actually lift it.

From what I picked up the stunt was done in Vienna, Austria. The excavator was rated at 3 tonne, weighed 15 t & was running on biodiesel & bio-oil(?). Rupert, the operator, couldn't actually see what he was doing, only going by feel. The tower was 15 m high, weighed 20 tonnes & had 70 tonnes counterweight over the four machines at the bottom. The TV show title was (roughly) "Make a bet".

Ever operated one!!!
I realise you are saying that the bucket wont lift the whole machine at once.
Only because you cant lock the bucket into something like their platform to do so.The bucket on a digger will lift the machine EASY.At idle the bucket is more than strong enough to lift a track off the deck.
Same as the machine has the power to chase the bucket down the hole you are digging if you dont know what you are doing!!!
