Recently the 1996 300 TDI Auto had a spider moment, Parked at a shop and locked it with the fob on returned opened it and plenty of lights on dash but no go. I returned 3 hrs later to tow it home and it started. Plenty of forums on this problem most related to stripping the dash and or bypassing the spider. I recall someone had a method re running a wire to the starter and fuel solenoid, to bypass the spider. Could some one pass on this method so i can set it up in preparation for next time it happens? . Hate for my daughter to be stuck somewhere:D

The neutral start switch works fine so that was not the problem, did not wind over at all no clicking of relays ect, hAs not missed a beat again

to easy....

rig up a spade terminal connector with an aligator clip.

this goes from the battery to the fuel cut off solenoid on the fuel pump, powering this up makes the engine live and ready to start if its a manual you can roll start it from here.

For the starter motor you can rig a similar bypass but all you really need to do is short the primary positive feed (the big fat wire from the battery)on the solenoid to the signal line on the solenoid (the little thin wire that comes from the ignition barrel

Theres a couple more advanced versions that Ive seen rigged up but thats the "get you out of trouble" version
