Just having a look around under the car and noticed this.
A crack in the driver side gearbox mount. Im not sure how the passenger side one is, will check that in the daylight tomorrow.
Is this a common thing or is there something more sinister I should be aware of ??

If you want to stop the crack from travelling, drill a very small hole right on the end of it.

You'll probably find the crack has propogated well beyond the crack. I'd weld it.

Thats something you seriously don't want to do. No wonder when people lift Jeeps they replace the entire suspension system.

Every time I see it, I say to myself, '' move away slowly and dont look back''.

lol, no probs.
ha, yeah - don't make eye contact or any sudden movements. :D

Jeep use some very good suspension layouts, but their execution is almost without engineers. 5-link front ends are outstanding for offroading, but they ran links mind numbingly short which provides a big limitation. The panhard rods use a ball joint that runs level with the road rather than pointing at the diff which creates a huge stress raiser in the ball joint threads - these break, and the rest of the panhard has so many bends and curves it probably cant help but be constantly flexing. Rear is similar and you cant do a straight spring lift, without panhards etc as the suspension all crashes into itself. I did a 3" lift on one and it was the most painful lift I've ever done in my lift with so many parts like panhards, upper and lower links, sway bar modification etc. So all of this is for a relatively minor lift. Then you get into Long travel suspension, and the suspension links etc all get removed and you go to what they call a long arm kit which provides much longer suspension links and new mounts to the chassis.
Lifting a Jeep is significantly more effort than a Rover or just about any other 4WD.

Yes and don't forget how much it costs to do:eek: they might be cheap to buy, but they ain't cheap to modify:no2:
