As the title suggests I've just put a new set on the P38. What a difference it makes!! I really didnt think it would change the feel as much as it has. Steering is lighter, no wobbles or vibrations very happy indeed. I was a little strapped for dollars so I went for Hankooks ( I think thats how its spelt) 255/55/18 series. The intersting thing was when I asked the tyre fitter if he knew the age of the old tyres he said "oh sure they were made in the 36th week of the year 2000", I nearly fell over. It seems they'd been on the RR for 11 years!!. If thats right then they'd done 170K, he said they had another 2000-3000 K's left on them.

nah, its pretty common to see brand new tyres in tyre shops that have been sitting in storage for a few years anbd be 4 ,5 or even 6 years old before they are fitted to a vehicle.
check the manufacture of your new tyres by looking for a casting with a 4 digit number in it, usual in an oval raised casting on the sidewall, its the week and year of manufacture. dont be too surprised if they are a few years old already when fitted to your car now as "new".
