Anyone tried to replace their door hinge pins? I have bought a couple of Pin kits which include the spring and ball type spacer....The manual tells me that the pin goes through the top part of the door hinge and then the this ball joint...then the spring. Then you are supposed to put a nut on the bottom and tighten up to the desired tension.
There is no way I can compress the spring enough to even get the nut on the bottom of the pin....no wonder there was no spring in any of the hinges.......
Anyone know the trick here....?....I'm tempted to cut the spring down...but they were supplied in the kit and it would need the tension here.

Con :twobeers:

Make sure that your old spring is not jammed in the bottom bracket. The spring should insert partially into the bottom bracket and then you need to compress the spring a little. If you have trouble use a pair of multi grips or wide vice grips to act as a spring compressor.

If you have one an engine valve spring compressor can be used for the same purpose.
