Is it possible to use the series (sals) maxi drive center into a county housing by swapping the cw.

Also thinking of mounting a skinny air cylinder on the inside of the housing to actuate the locker mech - I really dont want to cut and weld for the standard maxi actuator. Has any one done this?

Cheers

No. You can fit a 4.7 CW onto a 3.54 centre (with a spacer ring), but not the other way around.

Salisburies/Dana 60s have 2 different centres - 4.1 and numerically lower, 4.56 and numerically higher. The only difference is the position of the flange for the crownwheel to bolt to.

However - the short side axle on a series and 110 salisbury are identical.

So yes ,no ,may be :), - if I have an original 3.54 thats been converted to 4.7 with a spacer ring (its in the s3 now, I want to swap it to the county).
I'll drop the cover and have a squiz.

It is very unlikely unless you have a stage1 axle. spacers are only common on (series) rover diffs - since many lockers only come in coiler type.

The MD sals locker however does not replace the hemsphere.
