I need to go hands free before I get caught. I was looking at getting a sun visor unit. The Blueant Supertooth 3 looks good. Anyone got one of these or simillar?

I recently purchased one that plugs into the cig lighter and transmits the call through the FM radio. I thought this would be great as my hearing is not what it used to be. It worked great on reception but my wife complained that she could not hear me. It turned out that the microphone was to far away .

I have a blueant Supertooth 2 and it works perfectly. I would think the Supertooth 3 would be better.

I picked mine up for $20 on ebay.

Wife has a blue ant in her car, a Mazda 3, which seems to work fine.

Apart from, that no experience other than 'hardwired'/bluetooth units.

I put a 2nd hand Nokia unit in my Defender. The receiver went behind the MUD Console and the microphone on the steering column. The speaker is at the front of the centre cubby facing up. I don't have any volume issues, either hearing or being heard, in fact I've never turned the volume all the way up.

I got it for free, but it's the type of thing people throw out. Check with phone installers, who may have removed older systems from cars and have a bin full, or with any mates who may work in IT and handle their companies mobile telephony solutions.

The benefit of the wired in type is that it also mutes the radio.

I was initially going to buy a clip on unit, but the wired in unit means just one less thing hanging off stuff in the cabin.
