One of tyhe Defender models (SVX perhaps?) had round reversing lights (rather than the large rectangular one noremally seen).

Can anyone confirm that this is the case ?

Any photos ?

And Ideally and details of the LR part number, and even better if there is a Hella or Narva equivalent (as it will be much cheaper).

Ta muchly.

Found this link.. maybe a set of the NAS lights for the Rear of my 130 would look good (better than on a wagon anyway).

If I only did the reverse and not the others it would probably look very wrong.

Here's some on a wagon to illustrate what I mean by wrong.

vlad

are you talking about the reversing light (one mounted flat to the body adr requirement) or reversing floodlight?

if its the former my 2002 extreme one is round.. but i thought they all were?

I think I men the ones that look like this:
http://www.truckman.co.uk/media/cms_page_media/7/Truckman-Top-Defender-130-Crew-Cab.jpg

but I am actually looking for ones with a flood effect.
IIRC my 130 doesn't have any reversing lights other than the rectangular "flood" type one ? I'll have to go have a look later on.

I think it's kinda like this:

except that there's no red fog light and the rectangular reverse light is on the LHS (kerb) side.

I guess I'm envisioning something like this, but with white lights on both sides.

2002 model year on had them. As soon as they had the one piece steel door and the rear body to cross member mount hidden.

I fitted them to my 01 (all 3 actually, lights/door and xmember mount)

Are you trying to get a particular "look" or just get better light output?

Yep as i said... my 2002 extreme had them on as standard..

i would imagine they are cheap as...

Part Number AMR6521 is the P/N if that helps?

Thanks

Steve

Yes to both- I'm not a fan of the rectangular lights, but I also want a decent light output - doesnt need to he Xenon spotlights but something that will actually work as good reversing lights the current one isn;t too bright.

but I also want a decent light output -

I have upgraded a few vehicles with halogen down lights. I fit them behind the reverse light lens.

Using 20 watt units means no wiring upgrades are required (most reverse lights are 21 watt already).

You just have to figure out a mounting system to align them the right way (in my RRC I had to make new holes, the standard globes were mounted vertically).

This gives heaps of extra light compared to the standard setup.

The SVX has one clear light for reversing and one red light as a fog lamp. Both round and all LED.

I have never melted one yet! How long do you leave the vehicle in reverse?

The first ute I modified this way (WB Kingswood) I wired such that I could turn the reverse lights on independently for camping. I have run them for several hours with no melting of lenses.

I just had a look on ebay, you can get LED versions now. They would probably run cooler.
