OK, this is going to sound like a silly question... Why TWO trip counters? Why not just have the one?

I know - I ought to have worked this out after months of owning the cursed HSE, but somehow I've already had better things to do, like take the head off, replace the gaskets, helicoils in the block, water pump, suspension, sunroof, radio & CD player... and now try and trace a small coolant leak which is coming from somewhere deep in the engine... (and that's just in 6 months...)

I digress.

I've spending a busy Sunday afternoon replacing all the silly RR water tube clips with proper jubilee clips, and as I was lying on my back under the Rangie, I got to thinking - which trip counter does the MPG computer take it's readings from? Why isn't there just one? Just what is the point?

i use the main trip meter for each tank of fuel and reset it when i fill up. The other is for the whole trip, ie driving melbourne to sydney. The average fuel comsumption is over this number not the main one as the entire trip computer not the trip meter is reset with the "i" button.

Handy too if you're doing a trip and using a guide book with distances in it, requiring resets of the trip milage without altering your full trip recorder.:D

Hi Lorkers,
I'm similar to Parasnoop, I use one for the whole trip and the second one for legs of the trip when following a route waypoint by waypoint, comes in quite useful. Ones with one I end up using the trip meter for the waypoints and then have to do maths to work out the whole trip with the main counter, yuk!! Maths never was my strong point...........

Is there a trip computer ??

I wouldn't touch it in case it shorts out something else.

Yep, it's for tripping on ... if you trip and pull the wires, it will probably short something :Rolling::Rolling::Rolling:
