G'day All,

I have posted in the intro section, but I thought I'd put something here to,

Barney is a 2a lwb wagon, with a bit of an id crisis, yes he has a 186s.....and painted to look like a series 3

I know the rules, and will post pics soon, once I get my head around that part....
He was 99% restored about 10 years ago, buy my step dad and I, and has held up really well since then, he never got registered after his resto, so has been sitting, lonely, staring longingly at the road, well his time has come!

I'm sure I will be after alot of advice in the near future, and hopefully I can help some of you out with other things. I am a boat builder but I specialise in timber boat restorations, so most things timber and marine, I have at least an opinion on :p

Thanks in advance I know you are all going to be invaluable in the coming months.

And I apologise in advance for the silly questions to follow.

Cheers Sam

G'day John,

I have read your build threads keenly, How is it coming along?
It's those hills that worry me....not much of an issue in the v8 ute, (Betty) i think I will have to limit myself to 3rd gear just to get used to the realistic 2a trip time :p

It seems you should be an early port of call for electrical questions?
Barney's electrics don't look to bad, however I'm not going to say that to loudly, someone might hear....

Nah, Sam - there are a lot more knowledgeable people than me - especially when it comes to Landy electrics. I am learning, though. If you have followed my post you will see the people I mean - and that they are happy to share the knowledge is a great thing.

I actually have a SWB 2A, too. I towed it back from Moruya behind the Disco - on a big trailer. Now THAT slows you down on the hills! The SWB 2a was not a good one, though - too much rust - so it has been, so far, a willing donor.

How about your one? Any big plans for it?

G'day tim,
Thanks, Pics should be coming soon, fingers crossed!

John,
I have dragged a lot of stuff up the clyde, you don't realise what a climb it is until you have a have a lump of metal or in my case timber behind you!

As far as plans go, it was always destined to be a bit of a camper, that was the stepdad's grand plan, and now it will be good to explore a bit of the country with the better half, lets call it soft camping!
But I would also love to use him as a mobile workshop, so hopefully anything built for the back will be compartments, slide in slide out. I'm currently looking at the design of the folding legs on ambulance stretchers,
There is nothing like an old school work truck, for someone in an old school trade! as long as it gets me to the job, I might just have to leave a bit earlier.

Your woodwork capabilities are something I envy. My skills in that area are usually covered with lots of paint or vinyl :)

It will be good to see pictures of what you get done.

G'day All,

Well after a little time scrubbing, it seems Barney isn't such a bitza after all.....
I was under the impression he was 2a with a face lift of series 3 guards, amongst other things..... well, I cleaned up his id plate today and no, he's a fully fledged series 3.
So I guess I'll pack up my hat and head next door.....:(

Cheers Sam
