Sorry Vlad, I am a little technically challeged when it comes to posting pics. It's a 2002 model td5, white, flexiglass canopy on tub, bullbar, sidesteps, ugly brushbars that need reworking, long range fuel tank plus auxillary, MD axles and flanges. Mrs. Killer uses it as her daily driver, sometimes I am allowed to drive it.

Cheers, Mick.

1995 ('96 compliance plate) 300tdi 130. Ex Shoalhaven (Nowra) bush fire brigade. Purchased Feb. 08 with 33800kms (not a typo). Checked by Graeme Coopers St Peters, their verdict 'A good thing'. Have fitted duel batteries for a 60 lit Engel, Detroit rear locker, maxi drive rear axles and roof top tent on a frame made from builders scaffolding donated by next door neighbour. Standard rims/tyres changed for 235/85/16 Maxxis mudders on 7" Kings wheels. Doesn't even leak as much as oil as my old 60 Landcruiser.

Perhaps I'm the newest owner of a 130 on the forum !! I bought it 7hrs ago and have just driven it home.

I'll post a couple of photos in the next day or two.

Over the next couple of weeks I'll be prep'ing it for a trip around Aussie. We only arrived in the country a week ago. I'm use to driving a 110 as I have one in NZ (it was too expensive to ship it over) so driving the 130 today was something special.

Looks like I'm hooked on yet another land Rover :)

Go the 130...

We have a 2005 130. We bought it in May 2009 stock so we set about turning it into our ideal tourer. So far we have fitted an EGR kit, vortex muffler, engine saver, full size TRT intercooler, ECU remap (by Toombie, Mike Hayes), dual battery system using Optima blue & yellow tops plus a traxide unit plus his upgrade headlight wiring loom, silicon hoses, high tuff heavy duty axles & CVs, ARB front & rear diff locks, ARB compressor (under bonnet), 6 x Wolf rims with Wrangler muddies, checker plate fender protectors, Warn XD9000 winch (which we fully serviced and put new wire rope on), exhaust manifold - cutaway part of webbing and sent away to have heat treated by PRO COAT ( hopefully no warped manifold) Outback interior roof console which houses our Icom Pro400 UHF plus we have 2 handheld Icom 5 watters, VMS gps, britpart centre console, bilstein shocks all round and heavy duty king springs in front and firestone airbags in place of coils in rear, bilstein steering dampener, long ranger fuel tank. Airbags are run by separate (2nd)ARB compressor which feeds 15 litre air tank which has an in-cab dual controller, from the tank we also have air in and out fed to each side of tray, ARB full length roof rack which we cut down to fit dual cab with slight overhang at front to allow for 4 HID driving lights (on order) Hi-Lift jack. Things still to do: fit driving lights, fit second shock on rear, purchased but not yet received Black Widow front seat covers and organisers to also be fitted. Oh, and we forgot to mention that we have a Piggyback slide-on camper which is just the best (we're not biased!). That's about it and we're off to the Cape in June our very first trip. PS having trouble posting pics will try again...Gaz.

The repaint is all good if you have the time cliff...after 4 weeks got the bulkhead, wings, windscreen back on but still have to paint the doors the rear of the defender and the tub ...hard yakka on ya jack jones but am proud of my efforts.
I reckon you are dead on with your choice of colour Land Rovers seem to benefit that matt earthy treatment the gay blue just did not do it for me, In actual fact i am suprised how good the Aus drab olive looks in this environment, I am glad of the choice.
So Cliffy are you painting it youreslf or farming it out to ya mate ...its a bloody big motor lol
As for the checker plate as my wing tops are stuffed (bonnet too) I am getting them knocked up from the chequer plate left over from the tub top, was looking at keeping them as ali (because the rear is silver) but feel that i may get the dazzle see how i go

Here you go Vladtapes...

Mine is a 1998 -last of the 300Tdi's with 201,200kms....I bought it 12 months ago with 190,000kms on the clock with bullbar, winch, snorkel and canvas canopy from the 3rd previous owner...it was a tade abused when I bought it...I have spent a lot on it just getting it right - to original/new condition with new gearbox, transfer case and clutch just to name the big ticket items. I have installed dual batteries, UHF, air compressor with 20 litre air tank, plasma rope, tinted windows and a roof mounted TV/DVD for the kids. Heaps other little bits and pieces.

Just now I have started with the mods....HD F & R axles & drive flanges, with ARB air lockers in next. I have mounted the compressor and soleniods under the drivers seat. I just need to pull out the diff centres and install the acutal lockers...just saving up for that. I also need to replace the winch motor as the current one is seized with rust. I am aiming for a 6hp unit.

The 80 litre waeco sits on a frame above the wheel arch.

I would like to get a water tank made for under the back seats, I got a quote from Industrial Plastics for a tank to my measurements (holds 70 litres) for around $800....so that will have to wait a while.

It's awesome truck.

Cheers
Andrew

Yup! I got one to!!! 1999 Td5 bought up in Brizzy, now livin in Adelaide! 220000kms and still going (occasional 'tap' on no 5 when cold!). Love it but want 1.222.1 transfer gears or an overdrive!

I have a 2003 Td5 with lost of bits now. I bought it in 06 and it had a TJM bull bar with TJM sidesteps/brushbars, a dropside tray and a 130l longranger fuel tank. Otherwise bog standard.

First I got it chipped and installed an intercooler. I replaced the rear aframe swivel with an adjustable one, and fitted Maxidrive hubs. I replaced the standard rims with 16x7" black sunraisier style rims and shod them with Mickey thompson MTZs and I fitted a set of Lightforce XGT 240 lights. I buitl and installed my own roof console which houses a 20watt motorolla UHF. Also installed checker plate wing tops.

I then had an alloy 'POD' built to which I fitted a Mr Swagman rooftop tent, some brackets to fit and remove adjustable jacking legs for removal of said pod. I then set about fitting drawers to the pod and a kind of kitchen to one side.

Then I err... fixed the EGR. Replaced the hoses with silicone hoses. Removed the TJM sidesteps after they bent off a rock and bent my under door panels. Both are now replaced with home made rocksliders. I replaced the suspension and lifted it 2" in the process. Dobinsons coils all round and Boss Adjustable shocks. I replaced the rear helper springs with poly air airbags. And I also have a fitted roof rack that follows the contour of the roof. There is an 80 Watt solar panel sitting up there when I go for expended camps.

Most recently I fitted a Taipan XP 3" exhaust and it sounds pretty nice.

to do:

I need to fit side steps to my rock sliders, secondary shocks on the rear as it bounces a little when fully loaded. I'd want to fit lockers and most likely hd axles.

I will post some pics soon.

great idea, was thinking of the same idea of airbags for my defender the other day, glad to see someone else has done it, how do you find the ride etc?

Hi Philco, must have missed your request, to put it quiet simply "bloody terrific" not only the ride but the handling has improved greatly, especially when slide on camper is aboard, and love the fact that you can level up on uneven ground from in cab controls, ride is now even better since the addition of dual bilstein shocks on rear...Gaz.

2001 TD5. Was a flat deck until 2 weeks ago but now grown a wellside from a 2008 Tdci that was being converted the other way. Just built drawers in the back this week and now need to work on the roof rack, all 3.5m of it.

Hi all, my 130 is a TD5 ex-Telstra extra cab which looks like Spudboys and jbell110's.It came with a bull bar, driving lights,Warn winch, long range fuel tank, water tank, underbody storage accessed from the rear, smaller storage locker on the side, twin spare tyres on the rear, Rhino roof racks to suit Telstra equipment, folding roof access ladder, and a Hayman-Reese tow bar.Modifications I have done include insulating the roof of the box body, walls still to go, twin rear shockabsorbers,Worklight/reversing light on the rear, two work lights on the front of the box body,Basket style roof rack to carry sheet materials with fold down gate at rear to make it easier to load/unload,Ladder rack, perfect for the Oztent, extra lights in the box body, inverter to run power tools etc and two wind out windows [ex caravan ]to allow for cross ventilation when camping in the back.Rear vision is awful so I have installed a reversing camera.Overall, an excellent vehicle for my purposes.Cheers, 130man.

Yep having the rangie as the daily is great being on lpg and having the extra cubes its a great town car but it still wears muds and gets used offmroad too

Here's our fabulous 130 (called Kofi). It's a 1996 300Tdi with 158K on the clock. We've owned it for a little over 10 months in which time we've circled Aussie. I spent nearly a year looking for it as we wanted a good one for the trip and I've been delighted with every inch of it.

http://flic.kr/p/9ndzKR

I've included a picture below of the interior I built in the rear tub to keep things organised while on the road. You can access the sealed area between the spare wheels thru' the window behind the rear seats. It worked really well.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/landieman/5490955569

We're now in a very wet Tasmania and we'll finish up in Victoria in a month or so when we'll be looking to sell it. If you're interested drop me a PM. I'll be advertising it properly in a couple of days. I'd love to keep it but we're heading back to what's left of our home in Christchurch where sadly we have bigger issues just at the moment.

Cheers, Landieman

P.S. I've also got a 1998 Trak Shak camper trailer for sale too if you're interested. They're a brilliant off-road trailer that's Aussie tuff as is the tent which goes up in minutes and it is huge!! Again, PM me if you're interested.

Sorry about that, not sure what happen. :oops2:

I think if you click on the icon it might take you to the image on flickr. I'll do a wee bit of research into what I did wrong. I'll make up for it by posting some more photos once I work out what I did wrong :)

I've attached them below in the meantime (I think).

2000 TD5 for us.
Took me 2 years to get a genuine tub (had a timber lined tray when I bought it).
Did a clean swap with someone in QLD, long story.
But talk about being in the right place at the right time, and I mean that, I would have given myself 10min either way and would not have happened.

Anyway, only have done a EGR kit, gearbox overhaul, fuel pump, stainless sleeved clutch master, new steering box, rear shocks.
Would like to upgrade the chip, intercooler, front shocks, and a Mantec snorkel.

My apologies if this reply has not gone where I anticipated, I am not yet familiar with this forum but no doubt will improve.

I answer the general post. "130 owners who are you?"

As of two days ago ie 9 Mar 2011, I am also a 130 owner.

Sorry too dark every time I think to get out the camera but it will come.

So for those able to assist I am after some info.

Purchased this 8/2000 TD5 cab chassis with an aluminum "shed" on the back. I mean its huge, with side gull wings and two spare mounts on rear. Purchased off the internet from Victoria without seeing it in the flesh. When it arrived courtesy of Toll Auto Logistics I discovered it had an extra 200mm or so behind the drivers seat.

Further research shows it has a SUTI (Single Uniform Type Inspection) listing in RTA NSW records as a "Big Cab".

This originally had three seats but now only two so not the "Crew cab". How many of these things are there? I am starting to think I am very privileged indeed. I can recline the drivers seat and nearly have a sleep (whilst parked...)

Anyone else got one?

And secondly how to deal with a very cantankerous Range Rover stuck in the garage and now very jealous of said Defender taking up primary driveway position....Nevermind I will always fire up the old V8, 5 cylinders just don't quite do it but love the reduced fuel consumption.

Hi Old Rangie, I have one as well as several others on this forum.Spudboy, Jbell110 own one each and there are others who I can't recall right now.. Spudboy is converting his to a fully fledged camper at the moment. They were used by Telstra as central australian service vehicles apparently, hence the high level of equipment.I use mine as a mobile workshop and as a versatile camper as well.I live near Dungog so am not too far away.I have seen one other in the "flesh" , passing it on the New England Highway near Maitland and a fellow club member in the Newcastle Rover Owners 4WD club has the box body on the back of a hybrid 120 he has built up.Cheers, 130man.

I have just recently moved north to te pilbara, I thought I would be sad and devoid of other connoisseur 4x4 owners,
how wrong can you be so far I have bumped into three 130's one in my street.
A few single cab ute's a 120 whatever that is under the Australian sun, a 110 county heaps of brand spanker ford thingy's which suprised me as I thought so devoid of Land Rover dealerships no one would be game enough, one is owned by th local copper obviously a good bloke.
And I met a nice chap who owned an ex Australian Army 130 looked like my ones brother just a bit more hammered, it runs on a tdi as it was a gs vehicle.
here is a picture of my 130 enjoying the enviroment

Our 130, love it!

This is on the way home from the Lake Eyre Yacht Club Regatta held last year at Lake Killamperpunna. It was a great time had by all, unfortunantly they wont let us sail on the big lake because of damage to the environment.(LOCALS)

So its off to the Cape instead in September.
