Bigger disco rims/wheels

Hi

I was looking at getting a spare set of rims/tyres purely for using on the beach/sand.

Ive currently got 245/75 R16's. Has anyone fitted larger tyres on a 15 inch rim before??

whats you reason for needing 'bigger' tyres?
Do you mean wider or taller tyres?

what tyre pressures do you run?
what brand/tread are the tyres you have atm?

oh and what car?? CDL or no CDL

I went out yesterday and got bogged to many times, they guys I went out with were using 33/12.5 and 30/10.5 from memory, and had no dramas going over/up what I couldnt.

Ive got cooper discovers (st's) on at the moment with a decent amount of tread but ended up having to drop them right down to 12psi to get a half decent footprint in the sand.
And they didnt really cut it.

2000 Discovery with no CDL but traction control.

I was just wondering what the largest (widest) tyre you can use before you have to start making changes to diffs, body lifts etc.

245/75-16 is the largest for a stock vehicle... And more than enough for it to perform on sand.

The lack of CDL was the killer for you.

Look at a Genuine or Ashcroft CDL kit and fit it... You'll go fine then, no problems... We had the same with the (now mine) D2 when my father owned it, couldnt clear a small dune which mine walked up.

Went back a week later with CDL fitted and it crawled over nice and easy.

12 psi is about the lowest you would want to go safely in the sand without beadlocks.

get a CDL kit and it will transform the D2.......
