At first I thought you meant some kind of gymnastics ... but i'm assuming you mean this. (http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/)
Is it simple enough for someone who doesn't want to get too involved?

It *is* but it *isn't*.... :(
Parallels only works with Intel chipset Macs... so your G4 is out unfortunately...
Your iMac would do the Parallels on its intel chip, but bit bulky to take out to the car!
If you need portability, consider getting a 'web laptop' - those small sub $500.00 laptops.... Running XP will do a great job, plus you can run Oziexplorer etc then too and use it for in car moving map (with a GPS connected)

Yep, I use parallels for the nanocom too.
I heard of someone buying an e-pc for $145 on special recently. Very basic spec, but would no doubt do the job.
The other option is to pick up a second hand macbook. You'd pick up a decent one of those for about the same as a e-pc and none of the PC dramas.

Don't you just rub the little apple symbol and make a wish ?
I thought that's how easy it is to connect a Mac to anything ?

You don't want to rub it too hard or Steve Jobs the cranky Jeanie jumps out of the usb port!
