It's time for a new phone

I found the Nokia 6120 a nice phone to use, but they just don't last. I've been through 2 in 12 months

So I'm looking to upgrade to something a bit stronger

A mate of mine got himself one of these the other day

http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/phones/phone_details.cfm?phone=Tough T90

I'm just interested to know has anyone got one of these? Any problems eg warranty claims sort of thing

And I've heard a rumour there's a new model coming out? It may be just a rumour but is it worth my while waiting for the new model?

Hopefully someone with a bit more phone knowledge than me can answer my questions

Thanks

I'm in the same boat too.

My Telstra contract runs out in about 3 weeks, and the ZTE 165F has just died (was a cheap feeling, no-frills phone with excellent reception).

I'm just reluctant to run with Telstra again, as they always promise the world and then deliver nothing, and you pay through the nose for the "privilege".

Half tempted to run a jailbroken I-Phone............ Not very rugged though, and don't want to be caught out with a model update just a few weeks after signing up for another contract.:(

a colleague at work has bought one and I had a play around with it , looks like a tradies phone ( water resistant , dust proof etc) and I think that what it's desiged for to take a bit of punishment, one thing that impressed me with the phone specs is the range of frequencies it covers in 2G and 3G network.

1800MHz (2G), 1900MHz (2G), 2100MHz (3G), 850MHz (2G), 850MHz (3G), 900MHz (2G)

I often work in remote areas & find that Telstra NextG phones have far better reception than 3G phones. The difference can be as extreme as full signal on NextG & no reception at all on 3G.

Be careful, NextG & 3G are not the same thing.

We are using the Samsung B2700 at work & have done for the last year or so ,with no problems. We had the Nokia trady phones before these & find these way better, the bright torch is excellent,& they are easy to use.

They do, though ,get confused occasionally & lock up & reset themselves, but this isn't really a drama.

Yep, totally agree about the reception in the bush.

Next G runs on 850 MHz, while Optus and Vodaphone 3G networks run on 2100 MHz. I got caught out with a new unlocked phone that only has the 4 GSM frequencies and 2100 MHz. It's getting a heart transplant later today with the PCB from the old phone to get back on Next G.

cheers, DL

Im a motor mechanic who lives in the bush and gives a phone a hard time. For the last 14 months i've had an iphone. it has survived due to the OTTERBOX DEFENDER CASE.
This thing is indestructable!
Also the reception around here (NE Victoria) is easily the equal of my mates zte165,
Go the iphone!

Hi, I have had the T90 for a few weeks now, got it for the reception and works great, really like the phone. I only use a phone as a phone not a pc, so just wanted a tough phone that worked out here, cant fault it apart from you have to switch it off once a week for a minute or so do do something (reboot??) if you dont it will switch itself off and can be tricky to fire up again. good phone very happy.
