You know the feeling in the pit of your stomach shortly after you have made a fairly important decision like asking someone to marry you, or just putting an offer on a house that was accepted, or finding out you are going to be a parent after conception is confirmed?

Well I ordered my D4 TDV6 HSE today for delivery in July/Aug. Had that feeling after driving off from the dealer in my D3. As I have had the same thing happen on all of the major milestones in my life, I have taken it as a good omen.

Can someone reassure that I have done the right thing.

Well done but the worst is yet to come.

Thats the big wait, you know like when you waited for you first baby to come along.

If you ordered it with the rear e-locker, you did the right thing. If you didn't then you did 90% of the right thing ;-)

RMP,

:BigThumb:Yep, ordered with e-locker, Logic 7, adaptive headlights (hope not to get the issue with high beam others have had), and a couple of other minor add-ons. The wait will be painful, but I get to enjoy the D3 for a couple of more months before hand over to the dealer.

A least the D4 comes with items that I had to install myself in the D3, eg reversing camera, iPod integration, sat nav (well could have had this in the D3 at great expense).

The count down starts today.

Cheers

Hi Brick..............yes you have made the right decision. I too went from a D3 to the D4. You will discover the beneficial changes as you drive it more. The biggest being the extra power & torque (assume it is the 3.0Lt), second.....how well they sit on the road.
There are other little things like.......if you want to put your window down an inch. It is alot easier to do with the D4.
Jumping from one straight into the other you will straight away notice how much quieter and smoother they are. Cornering is also better.
The list goes on. I haven't yet found a negative apart from the 19" rims that everyone is talking about. This doesn't really bother me. Just ordered some Pirelli ATR's and from the info I have so far, they are a great AT tyre.
Good luck mate, I'm sure it will take a while to wipe the smile off your face after your purchase. :):)

Cameron, I did exactly the same thing last week - ordered a D4HSE in Stornoway / Almond with rear e-diff, high beam assist, adaptive headlights and premium leather; I have been told expect delivery early September!sigh.....! I will miss the D3 though - a brilliant car - so I have very high expectations of the new one!

Thanks for the comments guys. Having had time to sleep on it, I now can't wait for it to arrive, as predicted by Drivesafe.

Having gone through the 19" tyre thread, I am a bit disappointed the MTRs are no longer available, unless someone knows of a tyre shop with a set. ;) Having replaced the Wranglers on the D3 with the Cooper LTZs, I know the tyres will be one of the first things I replace.

BlackPerth, I am with you on the D3. After having had both a Cruiser and a Patrol, I have been very happy with the D3 other than racking up the mileage. 87,000kms in 2.5 yrs, so trading in while still under factory warranty, not that anything went wrong with it.

New to this site and about to return to Land Rover ownership. I started with a 1978 (I think) Range Rover in 1983. Enjoyed it for a year. Then a 4Runner, 80 series and currently a 100 series.... but

Just last Saturday I ordered a D4 HSE with High Beam Assist, Adaptive Lights and Electric diff.... and they can deliver it in 2 weeks!!! OK I didn't get a choice of colour... its white which I'm growing used to.

Any comments on HBA? Gimick or usefull?

This forum is fantastic to help me get planning on the ad-ons. List includes UHF radio, cargo barrier. Doing the Bourke Police and Community Bash in September so need to get the new baby ready.

RoverLander,

Well done on the new purchase, there will be some jealous people reading your post noting some are waiting until Sept/Oct for their D4, and white appears to one of the most popular colour choices.

No idea about HBA but some have a concern about the alignment of the high beams on the D4 as they are good for spotting possums in trees but not much else.

Enjoy, I think you will notice a small change for the 1983 RR and certainly from the 100 Seried LC.

Enjoy:BigThumb:

oh, I was in Perth, now in Adelaide, still Black - but D4 will be Stornoway....:D

Brick / Cameron, I bought MTR's in Perth last week (shipped East with Hunter Express) - 5 at $495 each from Barbagallo Tyres in Osborne Park, Perth WA. They had 62 in stock (seriously). :)

You know the feeling in the pit of your stomach shortly after you have made a fairly important decision like asking someone to marry you, or just putting an offer on a house that was accepted

This is a well known and studied marketing and psychological concept known as "post purchase dissonance" and the higher the value or stakes the decision is the more likely you are to experience it even if you have covered all your research bases etc. don't worry it is normal and if not universal it is certainly the majority of people who experience it with a big decision

I suppose it's fair to assume that the feeling of asking someone to marry you is referred to as "post purchase dissonance" given the high stakes involved! ;)

I meant to delete the marry bit, same concept but hopefully in Australia at least there is no actual purchase involved.

Thanks DiscoWeb. Dealer rang today to confirm that they would take delivery of the car in the next 2 days and it would be ready next week Wed... Wed %^&^#? What do they do with it for a week. I know I'm darn lucky I dont have to wait long... but a week of dealer pre-delivery? Only option they have to add are floor matts.

I'll let you know about HBA once I try them. The local possums have their sunglasses ready :)
