View Full Version : Net Above the Grab Rail in a Puma

I noticed a net above the grab rail in a picture Drover posted of his SVX (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defender-county/104058-uhf-mounting-ideas-130-puma.html). Is this a standard fitment to Pumas or an SVX special? I certainly didn't get one on my D90 and need to know if I should raise it with my dealer.
Cheers

SVX only. It's all listed in Microcat as parts for the iPod kit but we don't get that ability on the default radio of the Puma's. The SVX radio is also different - Clarion I think.

As Derek said SVX only. Very handy to store stuff too as I reckon I'm the only person I know that doesn't own an IPOD.
It is a clarion and very fiddly and hard to use.

Second that. On top of that ours has been faulty for over 6 months. Still not resolved. Still waiting on parts to repair.6 plus months with no stereo. Not happy.

That is almost hard to believe Kenley.
Have you asked for the money to just buy a new one yourself?
I think there should be some compensation in some way as you have paid for a 4WD with a working radio...not a 4WD WITHOUT A RADIO!:o
I have just had the Garmin Nuvi 760 die.:(
Landrover got a new one from me from the UK. Took about 4 weeks. I picked it up and guess what....they sent it out without Australian Maps loaded but I could drive most places in Europe!
It was also the 750 model. Silver surround on the face (instead of black) but the 750 has no Bluetooth!
The dealer rang me the next day to see how I went so I had a laugh with him about it. They have now sent my 760 to Garmin to be repaired but no idea how long it will take.

Really getting over this radio drama. They say it is the harness not the radio. The radio as you know is fiddly to use. Almost dangerous in traffic situations. I would love to replace it. But when working, the sound quality (to my ears) is amazing.
Funny you mention the GPS. Ours too was faulty, we had a new one sent out, after a long delay. Like yours ,no Australia maps but amazing coverage of UK and Europe. Also after the where to page, instead of the go home page it had find Dealer option. On start up it had the Land Rover emblem.
I think they were pushed for time originally and sourced the GPS's locally.
We have our original faulty GPS still, waiting nearly a year for the replacement to come back with Australia maps on it.

I hear your pain Kenley and you are far more patient than I am. I won't wait a year.
I have already priced a new GPS. It is the 765 and has a few more features all for a list price of $429!
If mine takes too long, I will ask them for a refund for the price of the GPS and I will go buy my own. Or, have credit at the dealer to go towards the next service.
If I were you, 12 months without a radio or a GPS means you should have something like a credit at the dealer for your "pain and suffering" :D

Just spotted this huge range of stowage nets from Mud in the UK - am sure some of the smaller ones would be handy all of the Defender interior. MUDSTUFF.CO.UK, Stowage Nets, Land Rover Defender Solutions: West Yorkshire (http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/stowage_nets.shtml)
Also loved the "Curry Hook" MUDSTUFF.CO.UK, Curry Hook, Land Rover Defender Solutions: West Yorkshire (http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/Curry_Hook.shtml) plus the Locker Light (for the cubby box) MUDSTUFF.CO.UK,Cubby Box Locker Light, Land Rover Defender Solutions: West Yorkshire (http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/Cubby_Box_Locker_Light.shtml) and a whole pile of clever accessories they sell.
If anyone in NSW is interested in sharing shipping PM me and we can make up a bulk order...

I like the idea of a net where it is on the SVXs. How is it held in place. Looks like there is no from frame.
Certainly be considering some of the other net options as well. Thanks fellas.
Cheers
