Am shopping for a new winch and air compressor.

Have seen some excellent reviews of the Tigerz11 on the AULRO site (incl: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/72995-tigerz11-winches.html)

Just wanted to see if any Fender owners have experience of them.

See below - $975 on ebay for the 12,000lb two-speed winch with dyneema rope, wireless remote, waterproof solenoid etc. Shipping $40 or pickup free VIC.

TIGERZ11 NEW 12000LB TWO SPEED WINCH WITH DYNEEMA ROPE - eBay 4x4 Accessories, Exterior, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 19-May-10 09:41:37 AEST) (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TIGERZ11-NEW-12000LB-TWO-SPEED-WINCH-DYNEEMA-ROPE-/400116259076?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d28c99904)

or here on website: Tigerz11.com.au (http://www.tigerz11.com.au/12000lb_two_speed.html)

I also like the detachable plate idea - if I get a hitch receiver fitted front as well as rear - also allows you to store the winch out of the weather and avoid carrying the weight (only 30kg with rope) when not in use... http://www.tigerz11.com.au/detachable_winch_hitch.html

The air compressor also looks like it has an impressive flow rate: Tigerz11.com.au (http://www.tigerz11.com.au/thumper.html)

Interested in any experiences of either. Thanks

I currently have the Tigerz 11 compressor and 9L air tank fitted in my Deefer, works quite well, if a little noisey, but will run a rattle gun no worries and with the pressure switch I fitted fills from empty to 140psi cut off in around a minute. Didn't use the braided hose that comes with the kit though, is too long, and had another one that was shorter laying around, and also used a one way vavle fitted onto the tank end of the hose to stop the ir leaking back into the compressor from the tank.

Also sold the winches at a previous job, and was quite impressed with the quality and value for money compared to most other winches on the market. The guys at Tigerz are quite good to deal with as well in the case of any problems, though saying that we only had one or two problems out of all the winches we sold anyway.

Cheers.

Been thinking about an air compressor for a while, and like the idea of being able to run airtools as well as just pumping up tyres (and/or lockers).

Never realised Tigerz11 made them, but given their good reputation with the winches I wouldn't mind giving the compressor/tank a go. The only issue I have is where to mount them. I'm not real keen on mounting them in the back like landfish. I wonder if they could be mounted under the wheel arch or under the rear seats in a 110 wagon?

I have a Big Red air compressor mounted under the rear passenger seat, with this air tank mounted nice and high under the chassis beneath the rear passenger footwell.

Will this whinch fit into the arb whinch bar for the defenders ?

I wonder how easy it is to take the whinch in and out of the bar ? I think if you just put them on before your trip and kept them out of the weather this would do wonder for there longevity. I want a whinch on my impending 130 but its hard to justify 2k on a warn when I MIGHT need it once every 1 to 2 years. Thing is you just want it too work when you do need it !!

According to the ARB guys here in Perth the winch will have to be fitted to the bulbar before it gets fitted to the car. I asked because I want to buy the bar now and the winch later, but I'll have to take the bullbar off when I want to fit the winch.

From memory there are 2 arrangments on winch bullbars. The first is obviously all those who use the Warn template and they are the most common here in Australia. A number of other brands like Superwinch uses the other template to fit their winch brakes and gearboxes.

The one template is called "centre mount" but I can't remember if its the Warn template or the other. Sure someone will be able to assist!

My 9000lb winch shown above fits the mount but the motor fouls the chassis mount. I had to move the mounts off centre. Also, the bars usually come with a cutout for a roller fairlead. If you use plasma/rope, you need to modify the cutout in the bar as well, or mount the hawse fairlead separately - in between the winch mounts.

No ya dont! Just get an offset mount Hawse  Very common...

And you can get a Winch into an ARB bar on-vehicle easy... As long as you can bench press 40kg you'll be fine...

I lifted a Warn M12000 into position with my Right arm whilst inserting the bolts with my left on the defender years ago... ;) You dont want to take too long to get the first 2 bolts in though :o

When mounting winches like the Warn XD, I cut the heads off 4 x 3/8" bolts and screw them into the square nuts in the winch feet.

This makes it easy to put the winch into position and the bolts sticking through the holes take the weight. Then unscrew and replace each bolt, one at a time, without the nuts falling out of place.

Bugger. Wish I'd known that when I mounted my Hawse fairlead. Ah well, least it costs nothing to drill two holes:D.

Just another question regarding the bar and winch, we have a 2002 extreme with the factory fitted bar ( stamped with Landrover ). The bar in question has the round holes in the webbing. It has press outs in the bar for winch fitting. The question is dose the bar need other bracing such as plates etc and are the press outs suited to a Warn or Tigerz11.

Thanks, A.J.

Unfortunately Tigerz11 only sell the non-offset type. However it was only about 5 minutes extra to move the hole while doing the other mods...

The only issue was that the nuts holding my Hawse fairlead actually fouled the body of the winch - the earth lead under the motor also did.

I noticed on the 4wd TV youtube clip they used spacer blocks and longer bolts, not sure whether the spacer blocks were supplied by Tigerz11 or just generic. I haven't seen them available.

I won't say what I've used to space the winch back 10mm, but needless to say I'll probably upgrade to the spacers:eek:.

was there enough wiring in the kit to run back to the deefy batteries or do you need extra.....if so what size cable did you use?

I just fitted a 12000 lb single speed. I mounted the controller under the bonnet and the cables to the winch didn't reach so i replaced them. The main power cable to the controller didn't quite reach, so I joined it with a minor patch lead. I would have preferred not to, but at least the join is in the battery box.

Mine's being fitted by Mulgo as we speak - was installed but not yet wired when I had it out for the last trip ;)

You did well to make it to the battery box - I ran out of cable somewhere round the start of the transmission tunnel.

I have the TigerzII 12000;b winch fitted to my 110. it works well and is a good winch. I used to have it fitted to a Nissan before and used it to recover others with no problems.

I currently have the 8mm plasma rope on it to lower the weight and for better recovery capability.
