bored of google try this
set up by stephen wolfram one of those computer genius types who can do more than turn on a computer.
his programme mathematica is used by scientists and engineers.
he has now turned his attention to solving search problems.
got this from an article in popular science

Wolfram|Alpha (http://www.wolframalpha.com/)

Not a good start.

Did a search on Manawanui, a former RNZN dive tender. I was just looking up info on it earlier. This is what I got from it:

Interpreting "manawanui" as "manawainui"

Input interpretation: Mana\'wai\'nui Falls (waterfall)
Properties:
country | United States
highest point | 719 meters
drop count | 1
watercourse | Manawainui Streamandtributaries
type | segmented horsetail

Like, I know what I want to find better than your computer buddy! [to them of course ;)]

It can't even cope with this...

However if you wear a white lab coat for a living it can be quite useful:

specific gravity of water, petroleum, air - Wolfram|Alpha (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=specific+gravity+of+water%2C+petroleum%2C+air)

Try googling this and see how many results you have to look through before you find the answer to the question you asked.

From the FAQ

Is Wolfram|Alpha a search engine?

No. It's a computational knowledge engine: it generates output by doing computations from its own internal knowledge base, instead of searching the web and returning links.
