RTFM the screen should have its native resolution written somewhere.

That would be because 1024x768 is 4:3 ratio. Wide screen is 16:9
So 1600x900 is one option, another is 1280x720

The other option is to change to a bigger font. I'd happily tell you how but I'm not in front of a PC right now. ;)

Your screen should be set to native resolution - 1680*1050 for your VW223T. If the icon are too small then just increase their size.
To change the icon size if you are using Vista or Win7 - just left click anywhere on the desktop then press & hold Ctrl on the keyboard, Scroll with the mouse wheel up or down to get the desired size.

1280x720 seems to still be too stretched in the vertical axis.
is 1680 x 1050 the "native" resolution of my particular monitor is it ?
(How does one know).
Anyway on that high resolution its not just the icons that are small but text in outlook, web pages etc etc etc. PITA !

How does one know > look up the specs on the Asus web site (besides, I have an almost identical model).
Text is too small > increase the default font size.
What operating system do you use - XP, Vista, Win7 something else?

we have this issue at work all the time people think because its a big screen the image will be bigger but its not the case as you now know.
What you can do is increase the default icon and font size, then in internet explorer press
CTRL & + or - till its big enough for you.

Wide screen is 16:9
Very true for broadcast television standards, however for computer graphics - anythings goes :)
