disc brake piston seals

G'day all,
Is there a way to replace the piston seals on county front discs without removing the caliper?
I would remove the caliper, except i've bent one socket wrench already trying to undo the two bolts. Unless they are reverse threaded for some delusional reason?
I've cleaned the area up, carefully applied penetrating lube to the bolts in question a couple of times over days, just can't get the bolts undone.
Hints and tips gladly appreciated...I won't be driving to work tomorrow otherwise...

Sounds like you need to find someone with a decent quality socket set, quick.

You were right, I found a better quality socket with 1/2" drive and a had a real go with a breaker bar+lump hammer+blowtorch and got the caliper off. Have to wait till the morning to bleed it.

Next time you go onto ebay type in Sidchrome, used condition. All of grandad's tool sets get broken up and sold off there. I hate the new Chinese made Sidchrome and replace my worn stuff with good used Ozzie made stuff instead. :)

Mark, go for the 12 point sockets in Sidchrome as Bee utey said and you should have no problems.The 12 point sockets match the head of the caliper bolts...Brian

13mm twelve point is what worked. And the socket I used was my Dad's 30+ year old sidchrome anyway :D I must admit my own socket set cost me less than a beer a few years ago, so surprised it lasted this long..but at the time I wasn't earning.

Wow, never thought to look for second hand tools on ebay, thats a great tip, I'm off to empty my paypal on tools.
