I did do a search and found nothing , yet I know we recently had a thread going about Defender door problems.
There was discussion about locks being replaced under warranty , hosing out locks with silicone etc etc.
Mine is the perrenial problem of passenger front popping open and doors only catching on second lock as well as rear doors not always unlocking on central lock activation.
Is front lock replacement the only option to rectify.

Sounds like we have one and the same vehicle pete!
I have the same issue and it is releived somewhat by giving the locks a good hose out (i think i started with RP7 and then flushed with silicon) i did adjust the door catches and replaced a couple also as the pastci tubes were broken. First thing in the morning the doors cant be slammed they have to be pulled shut. leter in the day when its warmer they can be closed with a gentle swing... but if you slam them... they will not close.
The RP7 and silicon seemed to have solved the doors popping open... but not the shutting. I think its the grease getting stiff and dirt causing the latch to react slowly. I intend (once i have a bit of time) to remove the latches and give them a real clean out to get all the grease out and relube from there..
another tip... buy the door trim clips before you start pulling the thing to peices! its worth having a few of the trim clip sockets around too.. and some of thise get mashed in the doors..
Probably doesnt help you... but it may give a bit of inspiration!

Ah good its not just mine then!!!

I have this problem also but cant for the life of me get the door trim off, I cant get the lock button surround off and dont want to break it!
Any advice on how to remove these so that I can get the lock out and have a look? Also any idea of the cost to replace the dam thing as the missus is sick to death of the door poping open while we are driving along.

Cheers for any help.:)

If i remember right the lock surround is in 2 peices.. the bit you see i think pushes upwards and unclips from the backing peice that is screwed to the door. Then you can get the panel off.
They arent too expensive to replace... i seem to remember about $13 each.. for the lock surround.. in case you break them. although for a 20c part it is expensive! not priced them up elsewhere....
The locks are around $200 each for genuine or $100 non gen. or if you buy them from the uk they are about 25 quid, im assuming non gen. I'd try cleaning them out first tho....
