D4 Ordered, now the WAIT !!!

Been holding off ordering a D4 until now,can't wait any longer. Told myself that I'd never ever buy the first of a new model again after getting one of the first D3's. Learnt a lot with that one.

Well the time has come, even though the D3 has been going very well and trouble free for a very long time now.

3.0L TDV6, HSE White with Rear Diff Lock is now on it's way. End of August or September is such a long way off. Oh well, could be worse. Still got the D3 to drive until then. :cool:

Congrats! I recently checked out a D4 and it's a beautiful vehicle. And the 3.0 litre motor would be a cracker!

Sounds like this is a popular combination, I just ordered a 3 litre D4 in white (will be Fuji White by the time it comes) with almond interior and Active E diff to replace my D3. Only I have been told Oct/Nov delivery.

Yes, White does seem to one of the most popular colours for the D4. (and not just because any other colour is an extra $1800 !!) White with a Dark tint just looks good :cool:

Additions so far, side protection bars, side moulding kit, MTR's, under body protection, rubber mats, load space boot protector, dark tint.

Just checked out photos of yours Next Door. Looks great. What Side Protection Bars did you go for? I figure if I'm taking one of these bush, should really protect sills and paint work if I can.

(looks like I am going to spend the next 3 or 4 Months coming up with a shopping list of accessories I need ;))

I put the black original protection tubes on. FYI, I purchased the black protection tubes, side moulding with silver strip, rubber-mats, rubber rear load space mat, under body protection plate, spare air filter from
Famous Four - Independent Land Rover Parts, Accessories, Sales & Servicing Specialist - Land Rover Parts, Land Rover Accessories, Land Rover Vehicle Sales, Servicing & Repair (http://www.famousfour.co.uk/) in the UK.
The parts were shipped with Fedex. With the exchange rate as strong as it is, including the freight I saved about 50% on the quoted Australian dealer prices.

They don't have all the parts on their website so I got the LR part numbers and just emailed them.
I must say the service was fantastic, I rang and spoke to them a few times and they were extremely helpful. Delivery only took a couple of weeks even allowing for the flight delays because of the volcano.

Big parts like roof racks work out about the same price as here, as the freight is expensive but smaller items like mud-flaps and the like, you cant beat it.

Dealer confirmed yesterday that mine will be "Fuji White" and not the Alaska white that I have seen. Hoping it's just as good. :eek:

Confirmed build Date of 20 August with expected delivery 26 October.

Pretty popular vehicle. I was at Melbourne ULR yesterday (as mentioned in another post this morning). The MD mentioned that he is ordering over 100 D4's a month since their release. They will be like bums soon, everyone will have one!
BTW: He said that the majority are ordering white. Apparently it's the new black.

I suppose all the Demo's are gone now? I got a great deal on a demo model with around 4K mileage. Probably 6K less than a new SE but had a bunch of non-standard options.....GPS, iPod, eDiff, tint, mats, etc, etc.

Be interesting to know at the expense of what - are Toyota's losing sales as a result of their bad press? I know I've jumped from the Toyota ship (which I think is taking water rather quickly).

Also, these guys must talk - the Sales Manager at Malvern ULR used the same phrase about white being "the new black". So therefore by simple deduction is black the old white?? :eek:

And I'm taking delivery of my shiny new white D4 tomorrow - woohoo :D. If anybody tells you a 6 month wait goes quickly they're full of c#@p!!!

The irony is, I didn't even know what was actually fitted, I just bought the car. I'd been looking at D3's and had no idea what was standard for a D4 SE. Regarding the diff......It was only when I went on my first off road trip,,,,big steep gravel covered hill....low range with 4WD selection on the screen...and noticed the rear diff locking and unlocking.

Now I could be wrong, but I've read on this forum that this is an easy way to tell. One of these days I'll get under and look for those extra wires. :)

Either way, I'm happy with the car and the extras were sweet.

How was the process of fitting the side protection tubes? If done by a service man. how long was the estimated time to fit?

Since fitting how have they worn? I am wondering if chrome would show less wear and tear.

I must admit, the white is really starting to grow on me. Couldn't bring myself to ordering white after having 4 white vehicles in a row.

Word from my dealer is that with 2011MY specifications the following applies: a 2011 MY TDV6 is a 2.7L single turbo V6 Diesel, the SDV6 is the 3.0L Twin turbo V6 Diesel, Looks like this is the badging from now on.

The new badging is standard on all the new 3.0 high performance diesels.
(Apparantly in other countries there are high perf & low perf diesels)
We will only get the HP version.

So congratulations & enjoy the beast.

I think Stig was referring to the fact that the D4 is an improvement on the D3 in more ways than are obvious.....but in someways it's gone backwards....wouldn't be an LR if that wasn't the case, I believe is his sentiment.

Only black is comming to aus tho aparently for our alocation of cars but in the wisdom of our sales guy at the last minute changed it to white... there a spec up hse..
