the knockers are saying "Oh he's just in a better car than everyone else". even though Vettel's in the same rig and still can't match his pace :D
Gotta love hearing the Anthem on the world stage as well!
edit: he's also won at monaco before in 2001 in the F3000 class, so was no fluke!

Yep and when he was at Minardi and Jag they had better cars than him. Pat

Other knockers are saying "only 4 wins in many years"
The problem is that many people fail to understand that it does not matter how good is the driver if he/she does not have a good team behind.
With motorbikes it is the same, Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan and Valetino Rossi have all that wins behind them because they are good riders but I just wonder what happens if the magic touch of Jeremy Burgess was not there.

He's certainly doing a good job. Red Bull seem to have worked through their issues and are providing him with a quick, reliable car now :)

Webber has always been fast - even when he was in crap cars he still always qualified well.
In the last 2 seasons he has FINALLY got the car he deserves, and he is showing it. (Luckily, or else he would be without a drive soon!)
For years I was defending him to other people. He rarely makes mistakes. I think his only weakness has been poor starts off the lights, but thankfully the last two races he managed to make the wheels stick and defend his line into the first corner.
x2 it is fantastic to see the Aussie flag and anthem in F1!!!!
Red Bull has some upgrades to his car and Vettels, hopefully this will make them even better and give them a great chance at the title and constructors. Early days yet......
Another great thing this year is the new points system. After 6 races their is no clear leader in the points. Makes for interesting races and an edge of the seat season!

OK, I admit it, I was a Webber knocker but hey you have admit it was not always his car that was the problem, I thought he may have lost the edge after the Mercedes crash at Le Mans.I'm glad to say however I was wrong and I hope his current form continues.
Cheers

I too thought he would never do it and wondered how long he would keep getting drives, I suppose he finally got a car that suits him and is as good as the others in the field, or better.

I thought the rumour was that Massa is after his drive and that he now has to prove his worth to Red Bull.
My money is still on Sebastian Vettel to become world champ, although I'm chuffed for Weber and that there are no team orders....................yet :D

Wouldnt mind seeing our Super Taxis racing at Monaco!!!!

Don't write off Button just yet folks. Now there's a thoroughbred racing driver and, like you, is driving British (as opposed to driving an overpriced Thai/Austrian energy drink can on wheels :eek2:)

What's British about Mercedes?;) Most of the vehicles are actually designed and built in Britain anyway and isn't Webbers car powered by Renault?

I must admit I was waiting for the tall poppy shears to come out too,all of you must also realise that he has got there on merit, not by paying for the drive or because of his name. One of the many reasons the car is fast is because webber is very well known for technical feedback. Pat

yep he is doing very well this season and last season to a degree, has to be in with a shot of the title this year.
have to say through in previous years he has had some doozys involving other cars and on his own that got him the reputation.
interesting if the rumor for next year massa to redbull and webber to ferrari, that would finish his f1 career in style.

I too was a Webber knocker, great to see him at the top of the field. Last year he was at the top of the leader board until about half way when things went wrong for him. Good to see an Aussie getting some top finishes. The Red bull team looks the good at the moment to take out the constructors championship at this point, they have the speed. Lets see if the other teams come up to thier speed.

I am or was a Webber knocker. I never disputed his ability or achievements but he just did not seem to have that final ingredient. Many people more knowledgable than me claimed that final ingredient was a fast reliable car, and I dunno. It looks like I'm about to be proved wrong but I dunno.
I do know that since he's been circulating in F1, other drivers have joined, won a world championship and retired before he won his first race. Maybe the missing ingredient is/was luck.
Part of the reason I am a Webber knocker though is to make my F1 friends apoplectic with comments like "I could drive my Defender round faster than that", "Ive one as many GPs as he has" etc.
Glad he's doing well though.

Would Lewis Hamilton have won his world championship in a Minardi,Jaguar or Williams?,I'll bet a years wage he wouldn't have. Pat

If you look closely at Webber in this photo, you can probably see why he wasn't doing so well when he was driving for Jaguar. It's quite clear in that photo that his mind was on something other than his driving. :)

Perhaps they qualify because as you can see from the photo, they are the type that he finds fascinating. So while they are not his, at least they seem to be his type.
