Went had a play with a few Defenders up off the Putty Rd and pushed my 200 Tdi pretty hard up and over some rocky sections with steep steps that had the suspension going to the limits.

When I got back on the Putty Rd it felt like I was driving a rear steering tug boat. Whenever I went off the power to change gear or back off for a corner, and there are plenty on that road from Colo Heights down to the river, the Fender wanted to dive off to the right.

I pulled over to check what the problem was. I then noticed what was left of the Nolathane bush on the passenger side radius arm. I limped home driving carefully at no more than 60 kph.

I had the old girl booked into ATV to have a new clutch fitted amd full service in preparation for a trip to Cape York in a few weeks and he told me that the original rubber bushes are the only way to go as these nolathane ones when they let go they let go whereas the rubber ones wear but won't pull the centre out like this one.

They are changing them all back to original LR bushes.

FWIW - I only use genuine rubber bushes rather than poly ones...

They wear out but frankly they wear out for a reason. ;)
