TD5 missing

Yep - sounds very similar to what mine was doing when the intercooler hose gave up the ghost.

Mine actually sucked a small hole in the hose, and at revs, you could hear a hissing sound (bit like a compressor hose left open to atmosphere - hissing sound increased with more revs). Fortunately, I already had a new silicone hose ready to go in, and fixed the problem straight away. On inspecting the old hose, never actually saw any evidence of de-laminating. Only a small hole just large enough to be able to push the tip of my little finger into it.

Fortunately (touches nearest piece of wood) I've never experienced the effects of oil in the loom.

Could be Crank Angle Sensor.

sounds like a sticky wastegate arm. get some mole grips and try and move it back and forth. if its very stiff or stuck chuck some 3in1 oil on it till it's loose.

if it's stuck/sticking it will cause the turbo to overboost and the ECU will shut things down giving the symptoms of a missfire

Could also possibly be a faulty injector.

Could only suggest the oil in the loom, blocked air/fuel filter for a starter. Youd be surprised the difference the it makes when you got new filters, more response, economy amd power.

Check your MAF. I am hunting issues following a Tombie ECU upgrade and cleaned the MAF with contact cleaner after all the wise words here. I had an instant miss at around 2700 rpm. Disconnected MAF & drove with foot planted - no miss but lots of smoke. Cleaned the MAf a bit more seriously with contact cleaner and earbuds now no miss...

I have just re-read this and have read your post and have re-thought my problem, I'm have a similar miss at around 2500 to 3000rpm, a sudden increase then loss of power then back to normal, it even went into limp mode.

I think it's time to wind the wastegate back a turn or two and lube the arm, I have noticed that when adjusting the wastegate for the chip, it was a tad stiff.

try it with the actuator off;)
the wastegate should be as loose as a dick in a bucket.
