If anyone thinks Tassie is cold then don't move to Goulburn in winter. :(
And if anyone thinks Brisbane is hot then don't move to Goulburn in summer.
Congratulations on moving to Tassie it is just about at the top of my list of the best places to live anywhere.
cheers,

Hadspen's a nice little commute to Launceston. Only about 10 mins away from where I live in Longford.
Still, prepare yourself for 40+ in Summer and the sun burning you faster than anywhere else I've been.
Good on you. What vehicle should I keep an eye out for?

http://www.hadspen.com/entallypic.jpg Welcome to Hadspen.com
Hadspen is an attractive, small historic town located 18km from the City of Launceston, and situated on the banks of the South Esk River.
Perfect for those who prefer the quiet life, yet want the convenience of the City only 20 minutes drive away, Hadspen is the ideal place to settle down and raise your family, or to take the whole tribe on a holiday.
At Hadspen you will find -
A Holiday Resort, a Retirement Village, a bottle shop, tavern and a Caravan Park
A supermarket, stocking many grocery and hardware lines, hot take-away food and petrol
A Newsagency, which includes a giftshop and Australia Post Outlet
Hairdressing Salon
Parks, BBQ facilities, public toilets, riverbank walking tracks, cricket nets, a cricket oval and a multi-purpose tennis court
Plenty of accessible fishing spots on the riverbank
Entally House and The Red Feather Inn, both with a rich colonial history.
A chemist, a Doctors Surgery, a large Woolworths Supermarket, and the Country Club Casino are all located at nearby Prospect, only 5 minutes drive away.
With all this convenience right at your door step, why would you ever want to leave?
sounds Great!!;):cool::cool:

I can vouch for that. This butcher shop is actually located at the abattoir and is their retail outlet. You don't see many butcher shops where you see truck loads of livestock driving through the front gate. Couldn't be any fresher.

Yeah we are here at last, the first container arrived yesterday with all our needed stuff and the house is starting to get that home feal about it, HA Deb is the one that loves the cold and she hasnt turned the heat pump off since we got here Thursday morning  and i wanted to turn it off yesterday but she said no, LOL. Everything has gone really well untill last yesterday, i ended up having to run into Lonnie and the Telstra shop in regard to the TBox Bundle (phone & internet package), it turned out i got the TBox at the shop but to recieve the modem i have to wait 5 to 10 work days for it to be posted :confused: if i want the same thing from the store i had to pay $99 :confused: how the hell they work that out i have no idea, any way last night Anthony got to have a nice and warm to hot shower then Alexandra went for hers and no hot left so now it looks like the hot water has **** it self  so we will have to arrange for a plumber in today to change it over well fingers crossed we will get one.
We are going to go for a run to Longford to the butcher that was recomended today at some stage when we can get out.

Two quick suggestions:
If your hot water system is gas go and have a look under it as the previous owner may have turnt it down for summer so you can just turn the flame up.
Have a look around the hot water tank, if it's leaking its buggered, try calling a few plumbers but also give a few of the big suppliers(harvey norman gave us the best deal) a ring. We got our hot water system replaced in december and only last week did I have to go out and turn it up as the hot water was running out to quick.
Hope telstra gave you a good deal on the net/phone bundle, I am with iinet on the BoB set up which is pretty good once you get it set up.

10th July 2010, 09:51 AM
Thanks for the suggestions, we have electric hot water and the previous owner helped out on this one, it was a blown 16A fuse and the fuse wire in the box is not the rite amperage so if i replace it, it blows so i pinched the 16A fuse/circut braker from the wall oven and it hasnt tripped yet, so fingers crossed thats all the problem is.
Yes mate the Telstra deal isnt bad, we got the $109 bundle and that gives 25GB internet, The TBox, unlimited free local calls and untimed $1 STD called so for us and what we need it is very good value

I'll keep an eye out for you. What did you think of the Meatworks?
MarknDeb
12th July 2010, 07:58 PM
Well we went to the meat works and got a lot of meat as the prices are very good, we had some marinated red wine and garlic rump for dinner last night, it was very tender, so we shall be going back again.
We went in today to find out about changing the regos over and we have to take both cars in to get roadworthy's done so i will have to book them in next week, they gave alist of places and there is a couple in Prospect, just up the road from us.

See, a month here and your already a Tazwegian...... calling Australians, 'mainlanders'.
Like 'TerryO' said........ If anyone thinks Tassie is cold then don't move to Goulburn in winter. And if anyone thinks Brisbane is hot then don't move to Goulburn in summer.
And if you think I came from Goulburn, then you're correct .... and yes, I wear a T shirt in winter. It's actually warmer in winter here in the North West of the state than most parts of the Great Divide up in Australia. The last five years, we have not exceeded a few days of 32*C each summer, except in 2008 when it hit 42*C and then 36*C for about 3 days and in winter, a couple of nights at -2*C.
Hope to catch up some day MarknDeb.
Cheers,
Daryl.
